Oppinion on Baby Hodges' name? I understand there is some controversy within the Fandom about it. 😅

Personally, I don't dislike the name Cooper (nor am I disappointed that he wasn't named after any character on the show) - but phonetically, a first name ending in an 'er' followed by a last name starting with an 'h', I foresee some issues in pronouncing the full name. It'll either be run through, erasing the 'h' sound all together (cooperodges) or there'll be a weird halt in the middle to emphasize the sounds (Cooper. Hodges.), making it seem like two seperate names. Maybe the writers didn't really think to say the full name out loud?

Anyway, how emotionally ready are you for the finale?

there's controversy about the name? yeesh.

honestly, i think it's fine. it's a trendy name of the sort that many american first-time parents of 2021 would choose, so it fits for the characters, and when pronounced with a general american accent, it doesn't really bleed together as much as one might think (i.e., the r isn't dropped, the h isn't swallowed, and it flows relatively well).

it also doesn't bother me that they're not naming the kid after anyone on the show.

imo, it'd be weird if they did, considering that from what we've been told hodges hasn't really been in close contact with anyone on the team since before he married emma, and he and emma probably had the name picked out before the fabrication case even started.

as for the finale, i'm ready for it, i think.

grissom and sara have main character immortality status™ and their relationship is untouchable, so they'll be fine, and hodges being an expectant father also guarantees his survival.

(while the original series killed off warrick shortly after his son was born, that show was—frankly—much more willing to go to dark/emotionally complicated places than this one seems to be. there's also a difference between killing the father off before anyone knows he has a kid—and after said kid is born—and killing the father off before the kid is born when the audience already knows about the kid and has met the mother, who has been worried sick on bedrest throughout the course of her husband's arduous legal trial.)

the only thing i'm worried about is that the writers will annoyingly leave plot threads untied and then no renewal will come—for example, raising the "will the grissoms stay in vegas or go back to their boat?" question and then never getting the chance to answer it.

anyway, mostly i'm just interested to see how things pan out and am trying to keep my expectations in check.

as i talked about here, there's a lot they have to fit into this finale, and it'll be kind of a miracle for them to do it all and do it well in just forty-five minutes.

i’ve heard very good things about that one, which strangely i haven’t seen even though it came out in the middle of my doctor who phase?? for the past few minutes i’ve been looking for that modern-dress hamlet with tennant & patrick stewart for a rewatch but maybe i should watch something i haven’t seen before instead lmao
