my Moleskine planner so far!
New studyblr!!
Hey, I actually had a studyblr last year but I decided to star over and deleted it. I know that my methods didn’t work (mostly for my lack of discipline and personal stuff I had to deal with) but I’m willing to give it another try without committing myself to what I can’t do. It is okay to not push yourself too much, you’ll only get frustrated if you do so. This year I’m gonna focus on creativity, inspiration, happiness, and passion I see at the studyblr tag.
So let’s get to the intro:
My name is Daniela, I’m bissexual and 18
My birthday is April 15th, so I’m an Aries
I study International Relations or IR (in portuguese, Relações Internacionais)
FYI: I’m Brazilian and study at Rio de Janeiro – that means I’m latina but not hispanic
I can speak portuguese, english, spanish and a little bit of french (currently on A1.2)
This is my second year in college, and my classes begin March 5th
I do some voluntary work with diplomatic simulations @ college and high school 1 2
I’m really into sci-fi, so if you are too let’s talk!
Possibly a future environmentalist, considering minoring in Environmental Management
Currently using a Moleskine weekly planner, the bullet journal stuff is clearly not for me
I really love Netflix and I’m a tv show whore
My favorite book is “Fahrenheit 451”
I gotta read more for fun, damn
Maybe I’ll post langblr stuff, mostly french
I’m such a Slytherin
The songs I like the most are probably either wlw songs (mostly Hayley Kiyoko) or sertanejo feminino (PLEASE do yourself a favor and listen to Marília Mendonça, Simone e Simaria and Maiara e Maraisa)
The last time I tried the studyblr lifestyle I was mainly interested in a e s t h e t i c, so this time I’m showing my messy side as well!
This studyblr is a feminist and lgbt+ safe place, I always answer your asks and try to reply to the posts
The classes I’m taking this semester are:
Methodology I
Contemporary Theories in International Relations I
Theoretical Fundamental in International Relations I
Introduction to Economics II
International Terrorism
Architecture and Power in International Relations
Introduction to Interseccional Methods
International Relations Seminars

01.02.18 // update of my spreads since I last posted (17.01), and my drawing for next week’s spread
I don’t know if I’ll be artsy in the long run with this planner but let’s give it a shot!
– and btw there’ll be a lot of The X Files quotes around, see if I can get motivation with that!
Rules: Put your music on shuffle, list the first 10 songs and tag at least 20 people.
I was tagged by @estudyanteh (thank you for tagging me and sorry for taking so long!)

just wanted to show how much it changes depending of the subject
the first ones are intro. to macroeconomics, the middle one is intersectional methods, and the bottom ones are international terrorism
My classes are back this Monday, March 5th, and i thought it would be nice if i posted something about college (mind you, this is my second year in college). So, there it goes!
IF IT’S YOUR FIRST DAY
Don’t worry about not making friends. Even though you might've had a shit experience in high school, people in college usually are more mature and the ones majoring “x", the same as you, have similar interests. Even if @ the first week you said “hi” to four people and one of them was a teacher, there’s still time to get to know people!! Don’t panic!! (I’m saying this because I freaked out) My group of friends was created during those breaks between classes and only got big, like 14 people who were friends and actually cared about each other, at the end of first semester/middle year vacation. You are not the only one trying to make friends. Almost everyone is alone in a new space.
If you don’t know anyone at uni that can help you through campus, search the website or the administration for a map. It helps if you know what you are looking for, so have the names of the buildings with you!
Another thing on that note: if you don’t know how the classes are like temperature wise, go with some light pants and a shit + a hoodie or a coat. In my case, there was a classroom with ac always on and I’d always freeze, so I brought a sweater + a hoodie and wore both. Just a tip: most of computer classrooms are cold af.
Please, for the love of God, get a water bottle! I get thirsty a lot and when I forget mine is awful to get up all the time to go outside.
And, yeah, professors don’t get mad if you just go away, out of the class and come back. You got a call? Just get up and go. You want to go to the bathroom? Drink water? Walk a little outside? You don’t need permission, go! (Side-note: this is the kind of freedom that has a lot of pros, such as freedom, but the cons are always like well you are missing class, maybe heavy conscience and guilt/not caring at all because the class is shit).
Don’t stress about books before the first class. I know a lot of teachers that won’t follow through with ALL the syllabus and others that most of the material you can get as a .pdf/.epub; so wait before you buy (and regret).
People always say “First thing is to get an extracurricular activity!! Join a group right away!!”, but only if you know what you like. Sometimes it’s a lot of commitment to be a part of these, and you don’t even like “x" activity that much. My case was trying to join sports (didn’t work at all when I did), but almost 4 months later I got into a mock-diplomacy group called MIRIN and I’m really happy that I chose it instead.
OTHER THINGS I LEARNED LATER ON
You’ll know which classes you’d better buy a notebook or bring a laptop, but in doubt you can ask someone who’s done that class or get some loose paper and rewrite it later.
There will be mandatory classes you can only get with “X” Professor. They will be a pain in your ass. You can either complain and wait to see if there’s a way out of this class (maybe another professor decides to teach it too, or this one goes away for a while, maybe another department has something similar), or you survive it and be miserable, it’ll only be for a few months. I don’t recommend the last method if the class is like 7am, it’ll be double stress.
Yes, you will eventually debate stuff from your subjects with your peers, but there’s always a person trying to turn every conversation into a discussion – don’t do that.
Have fun and don’t study 100% of the time. You gotta unwind!! Have fun with your friends and drink a little, dance a little, and even skip class just once when you can’t stand it. Don’t punish yourself for being human.
You can get classes that are not from your major/minor just for fun! And I mean it. It’s actually nice not to be stuck only at one thing and explore a little!
I didn’t spend much time at the library at first, but is great specially if you have a study group! And you should, but it has to be a really focused study group with 3-6 people; in my experience more then 6 just makes a mess and no studying.
Don’t start studying the evening before!!! I cannot stress this enough!!
At least try to eat healthier.
Most important: focus on yourself. You don’t have to befriend or date toxic people, you should have your opinions respected, and you should value yourself and all the effort you’re making to college.
some close-ups ‘cause why not
