The Biggest Loser Resort Chicago VIP Grand Opening!
Getting invited to the Grand Opening VIP event was great...pretty much any Chicago area resident that has attend a resort got an invite. I didn't know what to expect...maybe a tour of the new facility, maybe listening to features of the resort, who knows. I was able to attend the event with Sam. (Sam is the one that went to Utah with Karen...I met Karen at Malibu the week after she was at Utah...Karen introduced Sam to me at the BL Finale and Sam lives in Chicago) Sam and I checked in, found that there were food and drinks that were prepared by the BL chef. We immediately met and started a chat with Jerry and Estella from season 7. They actually live in Wheaton and Jerry reminds me of my father. Tall, lanky, outgoing, chatty. They were a lot of fun. The biggest part of our conversation that I will take with me is our talk about sugar. How hard it is to get away from it and Jerry still has daily battles with his sugar cravings. This is why I love talking to previous contestants...because I get to hear parts of their story and how this is a journey that never ends. It's such a great feeling to hear stories that are like yours and that you instantly know that you are not alone.
Once that 2 hour event really got started, we were able to hear more about the Chicago resort and from some of the staff members as well as a bunch of the past contestants (Francy & Jeff, Danni from season 14, Jerry & Estella from season 7, Jay from season 11, Mark from season 10) and talk with the CEO and CMO of the resorts. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty darn cool! To hear the stories, advice and ways the BL Chicago Resort are going to help in the community was extremely motivating!
The cool thing about Chicago is that they're going to offer some stuff other than just the week stay. They are going to have it where you can just meet with the LifeCoach or the Nutritionist, or just come for lecture events. That's pretty darn amazing! Especially since they're 20-30 minutes away from my home and 5 minutes away from my teaching job.
Sooo.....here's my news! While at the Grand Opening event, I ran into one of the personal trainers that worked at the park district while I worked the front desk there. She is now also going to be a dietitian at the BL Resort. So we caught up a little bit and Sam (the girl that came with me), knowing that I want to get into nutrition and would love to work at the BL Resort, asked her if they were hiring. She immediately brought me over to Mark (at home winner of season 10) who moved here 3 weeks ago to be the Guest Relations Manager for the BL Resort. Mark talked to me and told me they are hiring PT desk people. And once he found out that I teach computers, he wanted me to email him and set up an interview right away. I've already done my interview and 2nd interview with Mark and the GM. I should hear within the next couple of days, but with my computer and customer service experience I should have the job. I am so excited!!! I really think it will be great to quit my 2nd job at the medical group and go work somewhere I'd be happy and be working towards my future goal. BTW, Mark is pretty good looking and tall...seems like a really great guy and it would be fun to work with him. Cannot wait to see what doors this opens for me!!!
