Cole stood at the door nervously, tracing his vision over the mess of barbed wire and cement, waiting to be buzzed in. There was always something creepy about the lab, something he could never quite place. If he had grown up with common sense it would have told him that there was definitely something wrong with an underground nuclear plant with only one regular employee, a kid no less, but of course he had none of that to warn him so. There was a loud buzz and the door opened, a stale oder wafting into his face. The bandages didn't quite block it, but he went in anyways. The door slid closed behind him, blocking any outside light for the rest of the way. It was dark besides some red lights here or there, but he didn't mind; he was used to the dark. The coorador was long and cold, the sound of metal against shoe echoing around. he eventually came to a new room not much unlike the previous one; the changing room. The hazmat suits were always "one size fits all", and that's not so great when you're short, but he fit one on anyways. Once protected, he headed on in to the lab room. It was large and much more well lit than the beginning rooms, and the first thing you stepped onto was a rickety old metal walkway that wasn't support by much but wires, causing it to swing in places. This he was not afraid of. As he went over the walkways of swingy metal platforms and fences, he came to an even shakier metal stair case that was far past its safety regulation limit of rust. This he was not afraid of. he went on down, stopping on the ground level. it was covered in tangled black wires, some glowing a bright green and some not. he looked around, curiosity starting to take hold. "Cole!" He jumped a little, turning towards the source of the familiar accent. Sure enough, there was Danny, missing his suit's top as always. His sickly yellow skin showed clear sweat, and the albino could almost see every little vein. The kid was sick, that was clear. he just didn't want to admit it. "How's it goin?" he greeted in the friendliest of ways, his faked accent as genuine as it could be. Cole just shrugged; same-old same-old. "You wanted to see me about somethin?" He answered with a nod, looking around to see if anyone else was around. Seeing that it was safe, he gave him a look. The older boy smiled, gesturing for him to follow. "safe room's this way." he added. Cole nodded and followed him down some warm hallways, eventually coming to a nice, white room that they could safely be without the suits. "so, whatcha need?" he asked, leaning against an examination table. Cole hesitated for a moment before reaching up behind his head, into his hair. there was a soft click, and the bandaging on his face came loose. he put the clip back into his pocket and gently pried it off, revealing the burns that covered almost all of his face. In some places they looked the same as they ought to; darker, slightly red areas on scar tissue with veins standing out here and there. others were far darker, almost as if permanently charred black. the most noticeable black patch was at the right end of his mouth, taking a shape similar to that of a cold sore. he also unwrapped his neck, revealing that the burns continued on from there. Danny was in shock for a moment. Then a curiosity grew over his face, and he came up, inspecting his new patient. he went over every detail he could without the boy growling at him, muttering things here and there like "wood fire, mainly spruce" and "there must have been a toaster nearby". Realizing that he was making his friend uncomfortable, he backed off a bit, offering a reassuring smile. "So we've both got bad skin." he sort of joked, only earning a nod. he shifted his center of weight, putting his hands in his pockets. "housefire?" another nod. The scientist's smile faded a good bit. "You never were that great a healer, huh....." the smile returned. "you must trust me an awful lot." At that, Cole averted his eyes, a dull red forming across his cheeks. It was strange to see him like this. There had always been stories around school about why he wore the bandaging, but actually seeing it was.... well, odd. He was clearly his sisters brother, looking at his features, and his heritage did show, but it was hard to admire it all with the burns. Danny stayed silent for some times, studying him, gathering as much information as he could before smiling and walking up close. The other backed up a little, though relaxed at the expression on his face. Danny just smiled for a while before leaning down and placing a gentle kiss on his forehead. Cole's blush rose, and he backed up in confusion. But the taller simply gave his trademark idiot grin. "always knew you were a special one~"
