My babygirl
Lil mini comic
I still can’t get over the fact we lost a composing genius.
The thing with this scene is you’d think the music would cut off after the reverse, normally when ‘time reverse’ moments happen there’s no music that accompanies it other than the VHS rewind sound. BUT Guy Moon took the music that played before the ‘time out’, played it in reverse and struck a heavy electric guitar chord just to impact the viewers with ‘yep, that just happened’. Like the guitar’s almost going ‘whoa’ with you.
See, normally when we hear the tracks for cartoons they’re mostly just the same tracks every time used for specific moments unless there’s a very specific scene that invokes the emotional impact of a scene. Normally the music only changes according to what characters are present in the scene and/or the environment the characters are in. The music doesn’t really go hand-in-hand with the movement or action of the characters, it’s more ‘there is action, here is action music’.
Guy Moon, however, he gave the animation a sound, the music had a voice. It became a character in its own right. The backtracks of the episode was actively reacting to what happened on screen and I LOVE that about the sound of Danny Phantom, Fairly Odd Parents and many of the other shows he worked on.
Animators animate according to the voices and the script, but Guy Moon used his music to go hand-in-hand with the animation. This man was a treasure.
i can NOt believe that i haven't posted this piece yet,,,,, Art trade with @gnocchiattack from last year🥹💋
I keep thinking about Clockwork appearing in Amity Park in some horrific eldritch form with clocks or something to symbolize his power over time, and Danny (as Phantom) goes up to him all happy and smiling. Amity Park, at least the ghost hunters, are collectively like “Holy sh!t, is that his dad?! Have we been hunting this guy’s kid?!” and are already dreading the consequences of what would happen if they shot Phantom in front of whatever that thing is.
And yes, he was there to pick him up so he could take him to the ghost zone for some lessons on whatever.
Bonus points if Danny also goes space eldritch when he goes up to him, but is still much smaller than Clockwork.
Ninjaghost Season 7: Prev / (next?)
Aha….oops. May potentially do an extra comic for this season, we shall see
also fun fact I drew half of this in the car.
(Right to Left. Tumblr killed the images so click for better quality)
