Carmen went to their spot, her's and Stefen's. No one was there and it was quiet just like all the other times. Maybe he's looking.. but you can't talk to him, they'll kill him. Then Avery came to mind. He's been so sweet to her lately and he even stole her first kiss but she knew he still love Zelena and for the first time she hated someone without even knowing them. He had her in the palm of his hand. He's just stringing you along. He doesn't want you, you're not beautiful. Being a death eater is not hot. and most of all, nothing you do is even cute. He's screwing with your emotions. At that moment she didn't know what to do anymore. All she knew was she didn't want to live not like this. She dropped the hood to her cloak glancing around. Just beyond the trees was the lake and without thinking her feet carried her there. She was crying by now, which was odd for her. The only time she did was when Avery upset her, in fact he was the only who was able to get her to cry before him she hadn't shed a tear.
There was a boy near by skipping rocks but she ignored him. Dropping her cloak, then her jean shorts. She unbuttoned her top dropping it before she walked into the lake. By the time the boy stood up to see what she was doing the water was already above her shoulders. A few more steps and she'd disappear below the water. "Hey!" She heard him shout then it was muffled shouting. Carmen pushed herself forward, the water filling her lungs.
Feeling two arms wrap around her Carmen tried pushing away but couldn't. They emerged from the water and the boy set her gently on the ground. She coughed up some water and kicked him in the chest. "Hey watch it! I just saved your life!" He shouted as he was knocked back from the kick. She shook her head and rolled to her stomach and held herself up. "I didn't want any saving you moron." He got up and sat on his knees.
Looking up Carmen saw Avery. He looked angry, confused a bit. Avery moved down the small hill now standing in front of Carmen. "It's not what it looks like." Stefen said calmly as he got up to his feet. Avery's eyebrow rose in questioning, "I don't see why I'd care, she's not my girlfriend. What happened here?" "Y-you see um I think she was trying to drown." Avery knelt down setting his index under Carmen's chin and tilting her head up so she was looking at him. Even from the water that dripped from her hair he knew she was crying. She pulled away and pushed him getting up to her feet and walking over grabbing her cloak. Carmen put it on and pulled the hood over covering her face.
Stefen laughed softly to himself. "She's a bit of a bitch." Avery got up pointing at Stefen, "shut your filthy mudblood mouth. I'll be back for you, Stefen." He pushed him into the lake and rushed over to Carmen who was still walking away. He moved in front of her and stopped her grabbing onto her shoulders. "Carmen talk to me." "...I hate you," she said softly. "I hate you with every fiber in my being. I hate the way you make me feel. I hate the way you screw with my emotions," at this point she looked up and the hood made a shadow on her face covering her eyes, "I just.. I hate you." Her voice shook towards the end as the tears welled up in her eyes again.
It took a moment for everything to sink in. Avery let her go, "it's a thin line between love and hate, Carmen." He moved out of her way wanting to say more. She didn't know much of his emotions he held back, the ones for her or even Zelena and Koray and now this new boy Stefen. He's the best choice, he's better than I am. Carmen still stood there, not wanting to move. She felt worse than she had before. Lying like that, it didn't feel right but she couldn't take it back.
Finally she pushed herself forward. After a while she started sprinting deeper into the forest. Every now and then she wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. If you love me, come after me.

During Carmen's and Avery's encounter, Stefen tried to get as far away as possible. For years he hadn't gotten himself into any trouble until now. He's probably looking for me now. But I didn't do anything wrong. I mean I called her a bitch but I thought he would have agreed. After all they weren't dating I don't see why he got so.. oh I get it now. He likes her. He sat down for a break, glancing around. Safe for now.

Her eyes opened, the bright light that usually shone through the window no longer there. She sat up rubbing her eyes with her hands. How long had she slept for? Carmen looked over and jumped, startled by who was sitting in the chair besides her bed. “What are you doing here?! My brother is going to kill you!” Avery looked up from the book he was reading then back down, “Just making sure you got home safe and that you’re alright.” She looked down seeing she was in his shirt. She questioned it for a moment then shook the thought away, “I’m fine. Does anyone know you’re here?” He shook his head, “I was sure to be quiet.” Carmen nodded. “Do me a favor?” “Depends what it is,” he said as he set his book down on the arm of the chair. “...Lay with me?” she said softly as she scooted over, “please.” He sighed and stood up, “I have to get going Carmen.”
She reached out to grab his hand but he moved away. “What is it?” “Stefen, what is he to you?” He asked as he went around the bed to the window. Her eyes kept on him as he moved. Heart feeling as though it sunk down to her stomach. “Wh-Who?” He looked out the window and shook his head. “No one Carmen.” She fell back on the bed, “he was an old friend but I was forced not to talk to him again. Said if I did he’d get killed. He was my first friend, my only friend. He didn’t know that I was a death eater and I told him my name was Esmeralda so he wouldn’t search for me.” Carmen lifted her arm up as she stared at the bracelet, “that was many years ago. Now he’s just a boy, a memory. Not a pleasant one. And now.. I have a new friend.” She dropped her hand to her side and looked over at him. “A best friend, who knows I’m a death eater and doesn’t mind it at all. Who actually sticks around knowing my brother doesn’t like him. If you really have to go, then go.”
“When you said you hated me, did you mean it?” Avery glanced over at her. He didn’t know why he even asked about Stefen or why he even cared. You deserve him, not me. I’m not good enough. Go after him. Carmen moved the covers back and got up out of bed walking over to him. She was glad his t-shirt was a bit big on her and covered her bottom area. She sat in the window and looked up at the moon,“No. No I didn’t.” Avery turned, his back to the outside. He crossed his arms and stared up at a picture of her family she had hung up on the wall. “You do, don’t you?” Carmen shook her head. “Not a single cell in your body.. I don’t think I could ever hate you.” She looked over at him as he looked over at her, “wh--” Carmen cut him off as she leaned in pressing her lips to his.
She heard footsteps getting closer but ignored it. Carmen leaned in more. Avery’s hand came up caressing her cheek. The door opened slowly, creaking. “Carmen you-- the fuck is going on here?! Get away from my little sister!!” Carmen jumped falling back. Avery caught her and set her down on her feet in the room. Danny cleared the bed as he then stood before the duo. Carmen pushed him back and got in front of Avery, “back off, Danny!”
