Happy pride to these wives! 🏳️🌈
Once, Alex Danvers had it all, and then her girlfriend, Sam, died, and all of her certainties died with her. Grieving, depressed, she must now contend with her new reality as a single mother, taking care of the child they were raising together while juggling her job, therapy, and a meddling sister. Some days she can hardly breathe, and all there is is darkness ; until she meets Kelly Olsen, who is kind, compassionate, and carries an unfathomable grief of her own. As she begins to fall for her, Alex clings with everything she has to the memory of Sam and the life they had together, terrified of betraying her if she so much as entertain the thought of moving on. But Kelly will not wait forever, and Alex, ultimately, might have to make a choice she would have never thought possible.

Okay so after years and years of being a lurker. A gif set from Tumblr has made space in my heart like nothing before and I am trying to get this story from my head to your screen.

Chapter 1: Kelly Notices Lena Avert Her Eyes
The first time Kelly notices the look on Lena’s face, she just chalks it up to the Kara-related longing that Lena has been unable to hide for a while now. Even though Kara and Lena never seem to acknowledge or notice the looks, everyone in their group of superfriends has noticed the looks. “Eye fucking”, Alex snorts disgustedly once, slightly tipsy after a game night at Kara’s place. "They just keep staring at each other like the other one has hung the moon on the sky and they expect everyone to be oblivious to these looks just because the two are stubborn as mules." As if they could just wish away the pull, the intensity that seems to pull them together in a strange tentative orbit. Tilting and turning to a rhythm that excludes almost everyone else around them.
Alex groans, hiding her face behind her palms, slightly red with embarrassment, “Kelly, you are a shrink. Can’t you somehow make them see sense? If I catch them one more time looking at each other with those puppy eyes I will need to bleach mine.” Kelly just laughs, rubbing her lover’s back, amused at the antics of the older sister. “You know, you throw a few of those my way also babe.” Biting her lips in amusement, she presses a soft kiss to the brunnette's hair. “Yeah. That’s different. You and I are in love. We are girlfriends. We dating.”, Alex continues her protestation, as they move around each other in a gentle rhythm in the kitchen, clearing up the remainders of their take outs. Lena always indulges Kara by ordering in an obscene amount of food that Supergirl just straight up inhales through. “We should head home if you are going to make it to your morning briefing, Alex.” says Kelly looking at her watch. It is getting late and Alex has a really early morning catchup with the audit committee at DEO. Kelly loves that she knows Alex's schedule so well, a small reminder of their lives intertwined, the easy comfort of daily routine that binds her and Alex. Even if their routine involves alien attacks, kidnappings, bombings and other catastrophes that rarely intrude in normal people’s lives. But she guesses, that’s the price you pay when your heart has been captured by Supergirl’s sister. They throw the last of the takeout containers in the recycle bin and make their way to the drawing room to say their goodbyes.

“Stop staring at me like that! I thought you people were supposed to be non-judgmental.”
If Kelly takes issue with Alex’s tone when referring to psychologists as ‘you people’, she certainly doesn’t show it. She just keeps staring, body turned to face Alex’s on the couch and palms neatly resting on her knees like she’s trying to keep her composure in the face of an unhinged patient or something.
Which is, if you ask Alex, an overreaction.
“We are. I wouldn’t say I’m judging you per se, it’s just—“ Kelly presses her lips together for a moment, clearly trying to come up with non-judgmental words to convey her very judgmental (Alex can read it all over her face) thoughts. “It’s just— you’ve really never—“
“Never.” Alex shrugs, like it’s no big deal. Actually, you know what? She shrugs because it’s no big deal.
“But you’ve… I mean, at least you must be familiar with it? Word of mouth, if nothing else?”
Alex contemplates for a moment, lips pursed slightly as she looks up like she’s expecting to find some kind of cue card on the ceiling of their apartment.
“Not really?” she finally decides, after a few moments of soul-searching, “I don’t really— I mean I know it’s uh… lesbian adjacent?” Alex illustrates how unsure she is about that particular statement with a swishy hand motion, but it clearly does nothing to impress her girlfriend.
“Lesbian adjac— Alex!” Kelly’s eyes widen as she finally loses all semblance of professional poker face (not that she’d been doing a great job before, mind you) and lets out an incredulous chuckle. “It’s not lesbian adjacent, it’s— it’s a cornerstone of sapphic culture!”
“Oh come on, Kel!” It’s Alex’s turn to laugh now, more than a little bit charmed by just how passionate her otherwise very rational girlfriend seems to be about something as silly as this. “It’s so not a cornerstone of sapphic anything. Strap-ons? Sure, I could see that. Some dumb—“
“Do not finish that sent— wait, did you just say strap-ons?”

We also have a few general guidelines for the event, which are similar to the ones we used last year with a few modifications to reflect the additional themes and prompts
* Writers of ALL experience are welcome to participate.
* Create as many stories per day as you want. Choose the theme or prompt. Combine them into one story. Write for each. Write multiple stories for either or both. There are options!
* Along those lines, don’t feel obligated to write a story for each day. Not every theme or prompt will speak to every writer.
* When posting to AO3, add your work(s) to the 2020 #DansenFicWeek Collection. It should pop up when you search for it in the Collections section. Be sure to use the hashtag.
* Stories should be tagged “Alex Danvers/Kelly Olsen” in the Relationships section.
* Post your stories individually or in a separate grouping. Please don’t add to any established series or collection you may have.
* Stories should be uploaded on the appropriate day for the themes or prompts. Avoid posting them all at once.
* Rate all stories appropriately.
* Dialogue prompts should be used as written. They can be said by any character, not just Alex or Kelly.
* Themes are open to interpretation and only need to fit the essence of the concept.
* Leave kudos and comments on the stories you read. Feedback fuels the authors!
* If you can’t post during #DansenFicWeek or on a specific day, it’s okay to post after the fact. We still want to read your stories!
