Mod Update #2
Hello PPL’s!!! I was given another laptop and was able to upgrade my Laptop again with some new ram and a hard drive with more room to play with. Totally fixed the overheating issue I was having. Now It runs smooth as butter!!! Will keep you guys updated as things progress
Mod update
So this is an update on my Thinkpad Tseries mod. I was going to burn a DVD with my new main laptop that I purchased but the DVD drive isn't noticing the DVD I have in it. Come to find out through some research that the particular drive that this laptop has, has issues when you have Ubuntu on it. Which is of course what I put on it. So now I have to go through the trouble of finding a newer drive that will read properly. Lol. Go figure!
My newest project computer! Purchased at an estate sale for just $20!!! Just cleaned off the hard drive and installed the newest version of Ubuntu. Older ThinkPad Tseries. Has a fingerprint scanner to login with. And I was able to find a patch software that allows me to use it even with ubuntu on it. Now I have an awesome laptop that runs great for just $20 and a little work. I will admit I added in a ram chip, that I salvaged from and older netbook, to give it a little more breathing room. But otherwise I haven’t done much. Even has a built in keyboard light when you have to work in low light conditions. So awesome! Might add decals/graphics on the front later on for fun.
Tip!
When getting a computer for yourself make sure you know what you need in a computer. If you are just surfing the web and blog posting, you don't need a ridiculous gaming computer from Alienware. Go with a chromebook or basic laptop. It will make it easier for you to use and a lot more inexpensive. If you eventually need more you can always upgrade later.
