Move over Dan Uggla! Ok, so maybe it was just a formality, but Giancarlo Stanton homered for the 155th time in his career, passing Dan Uggla to become the Marlins all-time homerun leader. Stanton managed it in nearly 700 fewer plate appearances than Uggla. In the next few years, assuming he sticks around, Stanton should break nearly every Marlins team record, but it looks like this season his only other chance is strikeouts (stealing another one from Uggla), which he should do in the next week or two (he is only ‘behind’ by 8 k’s).
Stanton joins Evan Longoria of the Tampa Bay Rays as the only active players to be their franchise leader in home runs. If he can return from injury and hit 22 home runs this season, David Wright of the Mets could join them later this season.
