"why do you look so serious?" she tries to laugh, she really does, but it comes out all airy and uncertain in a way she hates. she sets her bag down, frowns as she takes in the sight of her husband. she knows things have been strained since he left new york, but they talk all the time, visit as often as each of their schedules allow; they're doing the best they can under the circumstances. at least, she thinks so. once she's finished with her degree and she can move back to cider point, things will go back to normal completely. she's even considered switching to an online course just to be back home, but she hadn't brought it up to him yet, still holding onto hope the next two and a half years will fly by.
