geralt is literally a fantasy zoologist so here is my new Modern AU for the Witcher

- Geralt works at a zoo and mostly works in conservation and rehabilitation of big cats and other dangerous animals. He and Ciri live on a couple acres of land about 45 minutes away from the zoo. He raises some various farm animals like chickens and cows, and he has a brown mare named Roach. He also rescued a pony and is helping Ciri nurse it back to health. Ciri has named the pony Loach to keep the fish theme going.

-Yennefer has a masters in botany and a doctorate in Pharmacology with a focus on holistic and eastern medicine practices. She runs her own apothecary and often helps out with the different medicines the Zoologists need. She’s got the best shrooms and weed, and they’re never cut with anything.

- Jaskier plays in a folk band around town under the pseudonym “Dandelion”. He can play almost any string instrument and has had relative success with one of his solo debut singles called “Toss a Coin” (which may or may not be about a certain grey-haired zookeeper)

- Ciri is one of the pre-veterinary students who helps out around the big cat enclosures, and she’s also Geralts god-daughter. She lives with him since her grandmother is busy as a senator and often has to travel, and her parents were lost at see after they went on a boating trip and got trapped in a hurricane.

- Dara is a close friend of Ciri’s, even if he’s not a pre-vet. He works at the gift shop in the zoo and he’s also an excellent cook. He enjoys hunting in his spare time, and he also butchers a lot of the meat needed to feed the carnivores in the zoo.

- For some reason Yen, Geralt, Ciri, and Dara have all become friends and regularly attend renfaires together! Jaskier works as a bard in some of them and that’s when he met Geralt, who he serenaded and then handed his number with a wink. It was one of the few times Geralt had (however lightly) visibly blushed. He was teased mercilessly by Yen and Ciri about it as they drove home. He texted Jaskier the next day.

Dara and Ciri's last interaction tears me up. This elf boy dedicated his time/life to saving Ciri just because he cared, Ciri needed a friend and he was there for her. The fear was real when Ciri went with the imposter Mousesack(rip) I just knew Dara was in danger, mentally preparing for his death. When they both got away, I was ecstatic only this is worse... Ciri's tears, her face crushed at being left alone again, its tew much!! I dont blame Dara, after all he did warn her. He was probably thinking, I didn't sign up for this!! Hopefully next season, Dara the elf boy will cross paths with Ciri. Geez, we got so many dramatic fights in the end.

me searching tags and ao3 and finding out like Basically Nobody Else seems to gives a shit about ciri/dara, even just platonically: 

i’ll write a fic myself if i have to. i may have a google docs bursting with unfinished shit but dont fuckin test me.  i can at least pull off a oneshot.  maybe. if the wind is right.
