Matt reluctantly agrees to the two of you adopting a cat. You've made some convincing arguments to relieve some doubt but he still worries about the two of you being able to care for any animal in general. Not to mention that his being Daredevil means he has a complicated schedule that could limit how much he's able to help care for the cat. But then he comes to realize that his being Daredevil is the reason why the two of you should get a cat. Sure it wasn't the same as having another person to talk to, or having him home to spend time with, but if having a cat would make you happy and keep you company than who was he to deny you. It takes a few weeks before you get to the animal shelters because you want Matt to have the apartment mapped out with the cat beds and other items in place. In the end you adopt an adult cat that wandered into your lap as soon as you met it.
If Foggy hasn't come to you with a stray by now then you'll end up adopting a cat quite quickly. He's always loved animals growing up and while he knows it isn't practical, on more than one occasion he's questioned you about the possibility about adopting every animal from your nearby shelter. Instead he settles for going with you to see if any cats feel comfortable around the two of you. There's really no preference with Foggy so if you really wanted a dog he'd relent but he thinks it isn't all that fair to have dog and no yard, not to mention with being a lawyer his time is limited and at least with a cat he can let them roam around the apartment to do their own thing. You'll either end up with a cat that's between two to four years old, or a senior cat. Foggy would love to adopt every kitten that he sees yet there's too much difficulty with kittens that having a cat that has an already set personality is perfect for the two of you.
The only way you're going to get a cat with Frank is if the cat comes with a dog. He's not against having a cat and if you really want one he'd adopt one with you just to make you happy but he's a dog person through and through. Be prepared to reign Frank in because as soon as you enter the local shelter he's wandering to every single kennel pointing at every dog and asking if you should adopt that one. He's absolutely going to ask what dogs have been there the longest and truly that's the dog you'll most likely end up taking home because he can't stand the thought of any animal spending their life in a shelter when there are homes out there. Also will gravitate towards what have been considered undesirable breeds, any dogs out there like pitbulls which have a stigma surrounding them and are less likely to get adopted over more popular breeds or even puppies. And let's be real here, the both of you hold yourselves to adopting one dog but when you leave you've just adopted two (maybe even with the thought of coming back to adopt a third if you have the space for them).
