Enjoy a chicken patty melt with a smokey twist! Ground chicken patties, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and a zesty sauce are grilled and put between slices of rye bread in this recipe. The burger tastes great and fills you up. It's great for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground chicken. 1/2 cup breadcrumbs. 1/4 cup diced onion. 1/4 cup diced red bell pepper. 1/4 cup diced green bell pepper. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1/2 tsp smoked paprika. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/4 tsp black pepper. 4 slices Swiss cheese. 4 slices rye bread. 2 tbsp butter. 1/4 cup mayonnaise. 1 tbsp Dijon mustard. 1 tbsp ketchup. 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce. 1 cup sauerkraut, drained and rinsed. Butter for grilling.
Instructions: In a mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, diced onion, diced red bell pepper, diced green bell pepper, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Form the mixture into four patties and grill or cook in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked, about 5-6 minutes per side. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and allow it to melt. In a separate bowl, mix together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce to create a sauce. Butter one side of each rye bread slice. Spread the sauce on the non-buttered side of the rye bread slices. Place a chicken patty on the sauce-covered side of one slice of bread. Top the chicken patty with sauerkraut and then another slice of bread with the sauce side down. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a bit of butter. Grill the sandwich until the bread is crispy and golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Slice the Smoked Chicken Patty Melt in half diagonally and serve hot.
