Trying to use my character Siegfried to practice and highlight the beauty of dark skin and eyes in relation to light. Though I don’t have dark skin, I have jet black hair and nearly black eyes. For years, I thought (still honestly) that they’re boring due to how little they’re romanticized in western media. On a pale person, yes, but on POC, not really. While with my partner, I realized how much light my eyes reflected in photos, and one of my favorite parts about darker skin is its ability to reflect the light of its surroundings. Looking at my family members with darker skin, I’ve certainly learned to love it. Hopefully this series—and Siegfried’s character design—can help me love myself more for my black hair and brown eyes. Maybe I’ll make my own love story for it
