So I finished the ENTIRE Alex Hunter series...

And dear god, I am confused, hyperfixated and in tears from pure silliness. Spoilers under the cut! (still gotta read the Matt Kearns series tho)

Book 0.5: Arcadian Genesis

Solid prequel, but didn't particularly stand out among the many military thrillers I've read in the past

Still a pretty good origin story and sets everything up nicely!

Book 1: Beneath the Dark Ice

Ice Station (by Matthew Reilly) with aliens.

90% mortality rate. And I was all for it.

Book 2: Dark Rising

We get to meet my beloved Sam Reid (that absolute goober)

NOOOOOO NOT HEX!!!!! his parents were probs hippies tho... who names their kid Hex???

Book 3: This Green Hell

It's giving Matthew Reilly's Temple

The children annoyed me tbh

Book 4: Black Mountain

Poor Sam... but at least he is a speedy goober

The amnesia trope made me cringe so hard, especially with how Adira was acting and trying to rizz Alex

And now Alex is an orphan at thirty something.

Book 5: Gorgon

Oh hell yeah! Probably one of my favourites

made me tweak out in the Istanbul and Izmir scenes cause I've been there

Greig Beck knew exactly what he was doing when he made Sam shirtless and badass

the sas people are iconic

Book 5.5: Hammer of God

Absolutely hilarious to see Sam and Casey interact with Adira

Book 6: Kraken Rising

POV Greig Beck ran out of ideas so he reused BTDA's plot

but it all worked out in the end

cate annoyed me tho

And we were DEPRIVED of Sam Reid content :(

Book 7: The Void

Probably the most forgettable entry in the series IMO

Morag annoyed me tbh, but I also feel weird for smiling at her death...

Sophia rubbed me the wrong way

Book 8: From Hell

Alex Hunter doing an Italian accent to embarrass his kid is so real tho he's embracing "corny dad"

SOPHIA MAKES ME SICK. like gorl are you that lonely to kidnap someone and keep him in a catatonic state for your own gratification

Book 9: Dark Side

It's giving Alien and I'm all for it tbh

But it felt a bit anticlimatic

Book 10: The Well of Hell

what kind of title is that??????

Kind of mid tbh

Book 11: The Silurian Bridge

AIMEE JOSH NOOOOOO - wait never mind

wHY did Sam get yeeted into biblical times...

definitely better than the previous books, this series is going up now...

Book 12: The Titans

it was giving percy jackson meets children's time travel literature

reminds me of the "behold my stuff" meme from Thor and we're expected to just... take the time travel part.

still pretty good, let's hope that book 13 will keep the same momentum as this one and silurian bridge

that cliffhanger sent me to the moon and back like fucking Artemis

If you want to read about one guy homoeroticaly stabbing another guy in the shoulder with a unicorn horn you should go read Dark Rise by C. S. Pacat and that's all I have to say about that.
