Supernatural 2009/Dark Angel fanfic prompt
In ‘09, two of the people that Max meets after escaping Manticore are Sam and Dean Winchester. Sam of course, wants to help the odd, but vulnerable orphan. Dean is more skeptical. What’s she running from? What’s with the military haircut on a girl? What’s with the barcode on her neck?
While waiting for another Hunter (OC) to find a foster family for Max she and the boys are attacked by a creature Max thinks is a Nomalie from Manticore but Sam and Dean know as a mythical creature. Sam and Dean see Max fight, super speed, healing, etc,. Dean automatically wants to capture and exorcise. Sam wants to know more while Max wants to escape. She wonders if Sam and Dean are from Manticore and if they’re playing a head game to trick her into revealing where the other escapees are.
After a Holy Water splash and failed exorcism Sam and Dean realize Max is (apparently) human. She refuses to answer questions. Why would she? It goes against training and instinct.
Max is eventually set free, by Sam, who earns her trust with his soothing tone and puppy dog eyes. Dean doesn’t want to release her, still convinced she’s still a demon of some kind.
Dean, pissed off at Sam and the mystery kid steps out of the hotel to call Bobby for info. While he’s out Max starts asking Sam about Dean. In her genetically engineered mind’s eye she sees the resemblance between young Ben X-493 and Dean. The convo turns into “I’ll answer one of yours if you answer one of mine” between Max and Sam. Eventually, Max tells Sam about Manticore and Ben. Sam tells Max about his childhood and his brother.
A few hours later: Dean comes back with info that backs up Max’s story and arrangements for her for a foster family.
When Sam and Dean drop Max off at the foster parents’ house she gives both a shy hug, the first she’s ever given.
*Author’s Note: There are other kid Max meets the Winchesters fic but this is my take on it.
