It takes everything--everything--for Daisuke to not look as concerned as he really is. Ken appears worse than ever; his skin is clammy and cold to the touch, the health seemingly sucked right out of him. Daisuke felt his forehead for a temperature, and moved to examine his neck again when prompted.
Daisuke can’t hide the way his eyes widen, or stifle the gasp before it slips out. Ken is bleeding, and that spot on his neck--
“...Let’s have you sit down for now, okay? I’ll get some ice.” All of his efforts go into keeping himself from going into a full-blown panic. If Ken were to see just how frightened Daisuke really is, that would be a disaster. He keeps himself calm completely in spite of the fact that he is terrified and clueless on what to do.
Daisuke moves from Ken’s side long enough to prepare an ice pack, as well as a few towels.
He even locks the doors before returning to Ken, just as a precaution.
“Here. It’s, uh...well, you are bleeding, yeah...It’s gonna be okay, though. Try and relax, huh? I’m right here.” Daisuke is almost convincing himself as much as he’s convincing Ken at this point. There’s nothing he can do to hide the trembling in his hands, but he rubs Ken’s back as he hands him the ice.
