PLOT DROP 1: THE BASKET AUCTION
For Characters Who Submitted A Basket: For the Basket Bidding, if your character’s basket was selected for the auction, that specific character will not be allowed to bid on any other basket seeing that they will already be participating themselves (we will be reaching out tomorrow to let everyone who submitted baskets know which characters of theirs were selected/will be out of the bidding wars).
For Characters Who Didn’t Submit A Basket: If your character did not submit a basket, it will be your turn to bid. You will send in your bids via messages or asks to the main with the number of the basket your character is bidding on and the amount they are bidding on. These bids are meant to be anonymous so please make sure you are sending the bids to the main and not posting them in the discord chat or in the notes of any of these event posts. You must bid on at least 3 baskets, but you can also bid as many times as you want to and on more than 3 (as long it would make sense IC for your character to financially do so).
Bids will be updated in real time (aka whenever an admin is on), so make sure to keep your eyes on the main!
Once the bidding has been closed, it will be revealed who has won which baskets. Once there is a winner of each basket, the identities of the daters and the dates will be revealed. The event at that point will be over and you and the other player can plot together to decide when to cash in on these outings.
This event is a fun way to get everyone interacting, so we hope you enjoy it and make the most of it!

THE BASKETS
#1: A picnic basket decorated with pink ribbons and a bundle of rhododendrons. This basket is filled with lilacs, a tin of cinnamon sugar apple cookies, a jar of homemade strawberry wine, two straws and a Victorian-styled eye locket. To add context to the basket, there is a poem neatly folded to the side which reads: “Flower of this purple dye, Hit with cupid’s archery, Sink in the apple of his eye…With love, PLEASE DRINK RESPONSIBLY.”
#2: The plain basket seems to show no theme or clever set of gifts. A bottle of Jack Daniels sits in the basket along with a $25 Target gift card. Two boxes of Cheetos mac and cheese are joined by a gardenia scented candle. Finally, a collection of small Target decorations and items from the front bins reveal the nature of the basket. It was is someone gathered things last minute at Target before turning in the basket.
#3: In a wicker picnic basket sits two strawberry tarts and an assortment of macarons from Sucré, along with a gift card to a nearby café for coffee. Two tickets to a pottery class are tied together with a bow, along with a couple of aprons. After the auction, you can grab a coffee at the café around the corner and enjoy your pastries before donning your matching aprons to make mugs at a nearby pottery class. If all goes well, you get souvenirs to remember the night forever! If not, well, you can always buy a better handmade mug there instead.
#4: Basket is painted a soft baby blue with hand painted sunflowers and small pink roses all around. A white scarf with embroidered flowers is tied around the handle. A blue tooth speaker is playing a short curated playlist of pop music, at present Someone to Call My Lover by Janet Jackson is playing. Dear Bidder, I hope this finds you well. If you chose my basket I have a day of fun planned for us! Obviously snacks will be involved! The plan is this, we start with roller-skating at a local outdoor rink, don’t worry if you aren’t super good! I wasn’t either! But I’ll give you some pointers and make sure you don’t eat it. Well not too bad anyways. Then we can find a quiet place to do some sketching and maybe make each other something to remember the day with. Then finally we will head to a film in the park! I hope you are a fan of dinosaurs because they are playing Jurassic Park! Inside the basket there are two sandwiches bought from a local deli, along with two large bags of chips; Salt and Vinegar and hot Cheetos. There are also a variety of small bags of candies and chocolates; gummy peach rings, M&M’s, buttercups, and Sourpatch Kids. There is also a sketch book and a bag of art supplies including pencils, paint markers, and some watercolours. Finally a bottle of Prosecco to share.
#5: A large basket containing a pack of string lights, a small Amazon-bought wall projector and two empty Slurpee cups, along with a note stating: "the cups are just props, we'll grab actual Slurpees for the real thing.”
#6: A dollar-store Easter basket in neon pink. Someone has seemingly gone through the aisles of said store and tossed various sundries inside: a few packs of no-brand candy, lavender scented candles, and two plush teddy bears unsold from Valentine's Day, whose eye stickers are peeling off, among other oddities. Put together at the last minute and evidently a "one stop shopping" experience. There's a few MetroCards precariously tucked into the bottom, but who knows if there's any cash on them?
#7: In a homemade bread basket with a woven pretzel handled with brie filling sits finger sandwiches, chocolate covered strawberries, a bottle of champagne and a bucket list with check boxes to select. From sky diving to a food eating contest to taking a hot air balloon ride, the list goes on and on with instructions to select your top 5 and whichever options you select are the ones the two of you will be doing, all expenses taken care of.
#8: Definitely a used kids Easter Basket, fake grass included (reduce, reuse and recycle), condoms and miniatures, a three-wick candle, cozy/fuzzy socks, a Paw Patrol and Lumpy Space Princess beach towel, two packs of Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies, two blunts and a gift card to a local burger joint.
#9: In this large wooden basket sits a blue sherpa blanket with two pillows, two Eucalyptus Mint candles, and Seasons 1 and 2 of Grey's Anatomy.
#10: A surprisingly pretty box awaits the bidder. Professionally wrapped with a bow and all, it perfectly fools the bidder into thinking they're in for a treat, which isn't to say they're not, because the box contains a pre-loaded American Express gift card worth $50, but that's all it has. Oh, of course, there's a note too, one that reads: Spend it as you wish and do not bother me.
#11: A basket sits drawing all the attention to it. The basket is infused with glitter and the presents inside are just as glittery. A Swarovski studded S'well bottle catches the light. Next to it a beautiful set of ruby earrings and a ruby and diamond necklace sits in a velvet box. A number of pens with a giant fake diamond on the end are tied together with a ribbon and to top it off, a bottle of a 1993 cabernet with two wine glasses decorated with proper crystals sit in the basket. It's attention grabbing and no one is sure to miss it.
#12: Steak, Sun, and Sand. Inside a wooden box, made from the willow tree, with silver clasps of which the latches resemble the waves of the ocean, is a pair of steak knives, two admissions tickets to coney island, and the sand from manhattan beach sprinkled a top. Enjoy a meal for two at The Loft Steakhouse, before an evening of fun at Coney Island, where you can ride, snack, or play until your hearts content. Following that, a walk along the shoreline of the private manhattan beach, where you can dip your toes, enjoy the quiet, and take in the serene settings.
#13: A date to die for. This antique sewing basket, embroidered with delicate flowers and old lace, contains a gift certificate to a Manhattan vintage shop and two sealed invitations, written in calligraphy, welcoming you to an exclusive soiree hosted by reclusive millionaire Shay D. Mann. Open the envelopes, find your character names and roles, buy a new period outfit, and step into an immersive murder mystery party, put painstakingly on by a local theatre troupe. Will you and your date be prime suspects, hapless victims, or superstar sleuths when your host melodramatically falls prey to foul play? Oh, you didn't drink any of the champagne, did you? Some people just can't hold their arsenic.
#14: This basket is a standard square shaped wicker basket with leather belt straps that keep it closed. There is a bouquet of brilliant orange carnations and a retro looking speaker playing Todo Di Ti by Raul Alejandro. There is also a Turkish woven blanket rolled up beside the basket as well. Good day Bidder! I have a fun one planned if you pick my basket. First we will start with a trip to the Zoo. I love checking out how the animals are doing, my favorite are the otters so we will have to check on them as well. Then we should find a spot to enjoy the contents of our basket, maybe have some conversation and get to know one another. Finally, I have the end of the day planned for us to go to a local spot I know of that teaches Latin dance classes. I hope you like Bachata, because that is what we will be learning. I hope we can have a lovely day together should you decided to chose my basket. Inside the basket there are two croissants from a local baker and a jar of homemade apricot jam. One container with bacon wrapped dates which are drizzled with a balsamic reduction, another container holds a selection of cured meats and artisan cheeses. There is a sleeve of handmade rosemary and sea salt crackers to pair with the items. A red wine and plastic glasses to enjoy, and finally some lemon bars made with an exceptionally flaky shortbread crust. You may also find inside a grapefruit and pine scented candle in a glass jar, a lighter, and a small polaroid camera for capturing the day.
#15: A wood basket is wrapped with black satin that has moon, the goddess symbol, crystals, potions, and various other objects printed on the pattern. Inside there is vodka, rum, gin, jack, and tequila, with two floral moon iced coffee glasses inside to put the alcohol of your choice in. There is two bags of dove milk chocolates. A set of wild flowers wrapped with a velvet pink ribbon that has a pink crystal and little moon charm hanging from it. There is also a blanket and two things of Chinese take out. On top there is a Starbucks gift card so you can get actual coffee once you run out of alcohol.
#16: In a blue Hermes birkin bag is a Tiffany & Co Moon Pendant, a box of Ladurée macaroons, two croissants from Sucré sealed away in a white wax paper bag accompanied by two custom teal coffee tumblrs and a rose-scented itinerary for a helicopter ride over the city that will stop on a helipad of one of the tallest skyscrapers in the city. Dine over looking all of New York with a private music session from a surprise celebrity guest.
