every time i look over at my bookshelf and see the ten books of the darkfever series that i have, the two scenes i remember the most are 1) when mac baked barrons a fucking PINK cake for his birthday and she was so excited to do something for him and he was so surprised and weirded out and irritated that he blew it up, and 2) dani crying, sprinting into a burning building to save her stuffed animal while everyone was like what the fuck is she insane she’s a 22 year old WOMAN why— and then they proceeded to ALSO run into said burning building to get her fucking teddy bear for her
jericho barrons told fiona, then mac to never romanticize him. imagine how pissed off he'd be if he finds out that thousands of women around the world are doing that exact thing when reading the books.
"My philosophy is pretty simple -- any day nobody's trying to kill me is a good day in my book."

“I love books, by the way, way more than movies. Movies tell you what to think. A good book lets you choose a few thoughts for yourself. Movies show you the pink house. A good book tells you there's a pink house and lets you paint some of the finishing touches, maybe choose the roof style, park your own car out front. My imagination has always topped anything a movie could come up with. Case in point, those darned Harry Potter movies. That was so not what that part-Veela-chick, Fleur Delacour, looked like.” ― Karen Marie Moning, Darkfever
If this isn’t my mans Jericho Barrons contemplating his entire immortal existence because of some sassy southern belle with “IM A JUICY GIRL” written across her ass then I don’t know what is
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
MacKayla, known as Mac is living her life as a student and bartender. Her older sister attends university in Dublin, Ireland. She receives a devastating phone call saying her sister was killed. They close the case and Mac wants justice. She ends up quitting her job and withdrawing from school and goes to Dublin to investigate her sisters murder. There she is confronted with a world of Fae and vampires. Will she be able to find her sisters murderer while navigating his new world?
I really enjoyed Mac and how she was trying to find her sisters murderer. I loved the connections she made with a few other characters to help her out. I do wish there was actual romance and more to the world to find out about. But, I really enjoyed this book.
Lmao I started the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning a week ago, and I’m starting the third book right now.
Big Buffy vibes- loving it.
I wasn’t sure I could take Mac seriously when I started the series, but the second book really made me love her.
