Another world. It should have felt stranger than it did but, at this point, Wanda was hard to surprise. She’d spent the last week bouncing around the multiverse, spent her time wandering from place to place looking for somewhere to belong, and this one seemed promising.
But promising, of course, rarely translated to peaceful.
She wasn’t sure if the monster in front of her now hailed from this universe or one of the multitudes bleeding into it, but she didn’t think it mattered. It was causing irreparable damage to the city and, if Wanda was to stay here, she wanted New York in one piece. That wasn’t the only reason why she was fighting, of course. Even if she’d had no intention of staying in this world, she wouldn’t have left it to crumble under the hands of this beast. No world deserved that.
The beast was a formidable ally, and though Wanda knew she was capable of handling it unassisted, she was still relieved when she heard someone approach from behind. Glancing back quickly, she made brief eye contact with the woman before turning back to the fight, hexes glowing in the palms of her hands. “You can step in if you’d like,” she offered. “It might be fun.”
