For the prompts, if possible, “Think about what you’re doing” with ISWM/Actor Mark and Captain!
Prompt: “Think about what you’re doing.”
All their heads stood in a semi-circle: Celsi with her feet planted and her arms crossed as she glared daggers at Mark; Mark sneering; Gunther palmed the gun he kept strapped to his thigh, clearly unafraid to use it; Burt just looked mildly disgruntled.
Then there was them; the Captain. It was their job to resolve this. Their job to put everyone at ease. They were the Captain after all, and they were responsible for the ship and its crew.
The moment they opened their mouth to speak, all eyes went to them.
“Think about what you’re doing, Captain,” Mark hissed at the same time Gunther drew his gun and Celci burst out with, “Captain-”
Their eyebrows rose, and the crew heads went quiet. Then, without a word, you indicated Celci, whose mouth curved into a smile as a chorus of groans and “Captain!”s rose up around her.
“Thank you, Captain,” she purred, offering a casual salute. The meeting began to break up, other crewmembers sliding into the breach in their bubble now that a decision had been made, brushing by the heads as they hurried to and from stations.
The Captain did their best to ignore the insulted stare Mark fixed them with as they made their escape from the bridge before Gunther could shoot them or Burt could whack them with his giant wrench.
Some British narrator droned on the background as a pair of doomed penguins wandered lonely across an Arctic ice-scape. This documentary had been Celci’s choice for movie night, and she seemed to be the only one enjoying it; Burt had already fallen asleep in an armchair, Gunther was sprawled on his back at the base of the couch, strip-cleaning his favorite pistol.
Mark, for his part, had stubbornly shoved himself into the Captain’s side the moment they sank into the couch cushions, whisper-complaining about everything from Celci’s choice of entertainment to her choice of pajamas, which were long pants printed with polar bears and a loose-fitting t-shirt.
The Captain, personally, thought they were cute, but they were willing to put up with Mark’s bitching as long as he was willing to cuddle with him. Was willing to lean in Celci’s favor on movie nights if it meant Mark would stay close.
So far, Mark hadn’t caught on yet.
