currently reading: Battle Royale by Koushun Takami. I watched the movie a decade ago, am only now getting to the book (I'm about halfway through) and I'm in this interesting intersection of being a fan of this book's adaptation, and being a fan of The Hunger Games books and movies, AND being a fan of Quentin Tarantino. It's led to inevitable comparisons and every now and then me stopping what I'm reading and going 'SUZAAAAAANE'

currently working on: a pullover sweater that is meant to be a stash buster. And FIC PLUG TIME I'm working on Kill Joe. I'm in the process of posting it. The first four chapters are out. Feed your local fic writer with comments or I will surely perish.

Something that I love about ResDogs having diner scenes is that I can then shamelessly recreate similar diner scenes across 20+ fics and be like 'ehhh it's canon babeeeeyyyyy this is Holdaway's home away from home, a place of comfort and escape but all the interactions are transactional and I'm not just talking about the waitress taking his order yeeeeaaaah'

38. In your opinion what is the most overrated movie: Okay, was really wracking my brain there, so I'm gonna go with something specific and niche; regarding the horror genre, and specifically J-horror, I don't think Ringu should be ranked as highly as it is. BUT this mostly comes from me being bewildered every time I see a list that's like 'it's top five scariest Japanese horror movies' and I'm like '???' AND I'm usually confused why Ju-on, though still pretty high up, is always lower than Ringu. This is NOT me pitting two queens against each other, I just love Ju-On and think it's scary as hell, and I've come to really enjoy Ringu as a franchise, it's just- it's always lauded as one of the Best. And I'm a nitpicky bitch that roots for my favorites XD This truly comes down to preference, nothing more.

39. In your opinion what is the most underrated movie: You know what, Death Proof deserves more love, even from Tarantino himself. I had a great time with that film and was a bit taken aback that he, and audiences back then, didn't. AND for something actually way more obscure, A Page of Madness. EXCELLENT silent film from the 1920s that is so haunting and unique, it's on Youtube, it's on Tubi, people should check it out.

11. A genre you just can’t stand: you know what, @lansiosa hit the nail on the head when it came to 'White hetero male centric introspective think pieces'. The idea bores me alone. For something that's more of a subgenre, I can't do home invasion horror. That's too real and too close to home for me. In that case it's not that the movies are bad, far from it, I will never deny the status something like The Strangers has, it's just too much for me.

12. Subtitles or no subtitles: Subtitleeeeesssss please every time (unless they're distractingly inaccurate). As someone with a hard time remembering names, subtitles are a godsend.

32. Are snacks a must or a distraction: I eat when I'm hungry, even if it's during a movie. I am basing this on at-home viewings because I get to the theater maybe once a year, but in the latter's case I usually just have a soda, maybe popcorn if I feel like spending a shit ton of money.
