I mentioned in a post earlier today that Darkling's setting is focussed on Seaside locations, so I threw together a bit of a "Darkling Aesthetics Moodboard" for lack of a better term...

I haven't shared much about Darkling so far, been trying to keep a lot of it under wraps, but I thought I could talk a little about the setting.

After Lizzy, Booker, and Andric leave Speculo School and it's surrounding forests at the end of Changeling, they've spent some time driving between various vampire clans looking for leads.

But I wanted the setting for Darkling to be quite different not only from the first book, but also from what Lizzy and Booker are used to. There are many stretches of forests and mountains in Arbaon, even large lakes, but neither of them have ever seen an ocean.

So a large portion of Darkling takes place across various seaside locations. The town of Osyth, is the first place Lizzy see's the ocean and she's instantly entranced.

So much so that someone manages to get the drop on her :D
