corbett speaks plainly, arms folded over the tome in his arms. henry stands a few feet away, speaking animatedly to a few of the shepherds. corbett knows adelina’s feelings -- knows why neither of them want to be close to any of the people around them. he would be content fading into the background or perhaps disappearing for good. . .anything to avoid the stinging pain of losing another person close to them.
