37. Talk about your current wips.

I touched upon that question here. But I had a few more thoughts I can share more thoughts about Side Deck if you’re interested.

I didn’t intend to write it as a series when I first wrote Ghostrick Scare. So when it started growing, it made sense to change the fic to Side Deck. You may have noticed that I tend to name my chaptered fics to a theme if possible (Joey’s chapters are mostly music references, How We Break and Rebuild uses military terminology, Fate Map Part 1 is psychology/personality concepts, etc). But the reason I really stuck with it was because a side deck in the YGO card game can only have 15 cards max. I figured that would force me to limit the scope of my story to 15 chapters or less and save my sanity. Lol.

30 Day OTP Challenge - Day 23 - Arguing

Kaiba’s arm had fallen asleep. It hadn’t been that long since they had taken a post-romp nap, but long enough for that to happen.

Beside him, Jounouchi was out like a light.

Kaiba wanted to move, but wasn’t too keen on dealing with a grumpy lover.

That’s when Jounouchi started snoring.

Rolling his eyes and growling, Kaiba wiggled his arm out from under Jounouchi’s head. The rearrangement caused some blood flow to return to his arm, bringing with it sharp spikes of pain. And, as the predicted, Jounouchi stirred.

“Wahtimesit…” the blond mumbled vaguely before nestling further into Kaiba’s shoulder.

Kaiba grimaced from the renewed discomfort and perhaps the unwarranted affection.

“Stop that,” he complained, trying to get away. “My arm’s asleep.”

“Yeah, but you’re so comfy…” countered Jounouchi, slinging his arm around Kaiba’s neck.

Kaiba yanked his arm away, muttering “annoying” under his breath and making Jounouchi faceplant into the mattress.

Jounouchi sat up sputtering.

“Don’t be an ass. Thought you’d be in a better mood after that.”

“That was before you squashed my arm flat,” Kaiba grumbled, rolling his shoulder and shaking out his arm.

Jounouchi clicked his tongue. “Little baby,” he jeered, before straddling Kaiba and leaning in close.

“Want me to kiss it better?”

Kaiba rolled his eyes but didn’t argue.

Jounouchi smirked and kissed him anyway.

Our natural order

This started as the response to a fic prompt, but I forgot it was supposed to be non-sexual intimacy.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So here’s a citrusy pair of drabbles with overwrought style and language!

I.

Jounouchi's hair reminds him of a lion's mane, bright as his smiles and bold as his courage. Like a moth drawn to the flame, Kaiba can't not run his hands through the disheveled mess— can't not linger on the texture and weight. Jounouchi unfurls, stretches, and winds around him. Jounouchi's fingertips dance across his nape, teasing touches that burn a scorching path to his core.

His heart fluttered at the easy affection; his groin tightened at languid grace. With one hand still buried in Jounouchi's hair, he tips his chin up and watches his bangs fall to the side. Words and tangled thoughts catch in his parched throat every time they're breaths away.

Jounouchi stills. As Kaiba relives the uncertainty and thrill of their first kiss, Jounouchi always waits for him to breach the distance first. But Jounouchi dares him with a gleam of his eyes. He tempts with a lick of his lips.

Kaiba has never turned down a challenge in his life. When their lips slant together, Kaiba allows himself to believe that he has caught Jounouchi— that Jounouchi will stay.

II.

There's nothing hotter than when he tugs on the end of Kaiba's hair, exposing the tendons of his neck and his bobbing Adam's apple to Jounouchi's hungry gaze. Judging by the wretched moan and the growing, desperate swell between his sinful legs, Kaiba agrees.

He pressed in to trail kisses along Kaiba's throat, loose locks tickling his cheeks and nose. To think he used to tease Kaiba about his unstylish haircut. On one occasion, he even compared it to a football helmet. But now he knows the pleasure of mussing it with a long make-out session and the smug satisfaction of well-defined bed head.

Kaiba digs his fingers deeper into Jounouchi's shoulder blade. "You've stopped," he said, half consternation and all demand.

"I was thinking," Jounouchi licked a strip along Kaiba's jaw. "About you."

"Stop wasting your limited brain power then. I'm right here."

"Yeah," he yanks the fistful of hair again. "Yeah, you are." Jounouchi swallows the gutted sound he tears from Kaiba, firm in the knowledge that Kaiba is his.

Writers ask: 17 favorite AU to write

Fate Map, my biopunk AU, holds a special, underdog kind of place in my heart. I would call it a labor of love as it’s not a ship-heavy fic so it gets fewer readers by comparison. It gives me a chance to world-build, which is what my childhood writing aspirations were aimed at. (Similarly in that vein was the Too narrow a space to live series before I got burnt out on the Sherlock fandom).

Most fun to write though? It’s a toss-up between How We Break and Rebuild (Gundam Build Fighters Fusion) and impossible gardens (kid fic with single-dad!Kaiba and kindergarten-teacher!Jou).

Your art is so cute!! I saw you posted something asking for prompts. Are you still looking? I saw your Makoto Neko Atsume pic and my headcanon is that Pepper is the MH cat because it's got blue and green eyes. :3

Kaibaguchi + 11 what you like best

Wow, this is a loaded question. ;) I love a lot of different bits in Meijin Kaibaguchi: getting to explore a partnership between Jou and Kaiba, how both their vulnerabilities are slowly revealed over time, getting to combine two of my favorite canons...

The first draft was written so quickly over a short period of time (at least for me, lol) that it feels like a highly emotional piece for myself and that translated into the characters. I still look back and go, “wow, did that really happen? Is it really over?”
