So cool.
I got an urge to reread the Theban plays because Antigone is my fave thing of all time. Thing is, I first read these when I was like sixteen and dumb. Reading it older? It's unintentionally hilarious.
Oedipus Rex has had me laughing more than it probably should given it's a tragedy. Freaking Creon essentially saying, "Bro, I don't want your job or I'd have to do actual work," just made me lose it.
Man, I love these plays even more now.
Over on Bluesky...
Via Fiona Tribe: "Yes, Swiss scientist Fritz Zwicky coined the term 'dark matter' which is impressive, but he also coined the term 'spherical bastard' to describe people who are bastards no matter which way you look at them, and I think that should be celebrated more."

I'm officially old: just heard Cypress Hill being used as a song for a family car commercial.
SAMMY'S CHILDREN'S DAY | 初三的六一儿童节 (2026)
At Toba aquarium in Japan, after closing time, some clever little otter pups help their grandpa tidy up their toys. As a reward, he gives them ice cubes
I think it is so beautiful and wonderful and joyful and magical that we live in a world where we’ve all collectively agreed that a select group of puppets are Real People and everyone’s in on it and everyone always plays along. so now they’re just widely accepted to be real alive people. yeah that’s elmo. that’s a real guy his name is elmo and he’s red and he’s a baby and he’s real.
This is what it’s like to be an adult.
in the english dub she say “-just one more good sob - OKAY I’M READY” and that’s pretty accurate too.
Bet it feels good as fuckkk to rest your hand on the pommel of your sword when the newcomer steps a little too close to your lord who you’ve sworn to protect with your life
It's funny; when I'm at work and bored I read a lot of those click baitey "x# of people tell stories of this, that, or this" and just the other day came across one about bullies in school. A lot of it resonated with me (I was the ugly fat kid) but I realized something else: I was largely ignored. I could probably count on one hand the number of times I was actively bullied. There was one kid in school who was horrendously bullied and I was always thankful it wasn't me.
In the end, I was just nothing. People really only talked to me if they wanted something. Even my so-called friends. Actually, if anyone bullied me, it was probably them. They enjoyed letting me know they had secrets between each other that I wasn't privy to. You know, fun shit.
But yeah. I'm like a living ghost, apparently. I don't still speak to anyone from HS or college, even. It's like it never happened.
FUN.
