Darkness Descends is the second studio album by Dark Angel ( @darkangelthrash) released on November 17, 1986 via Combat Records ( @combatrecs) The album is considered a landmark in the thrash metal genre. Its considered to be the finest release by Dark Angel. Though bassist Rob Yahn appears on the album, Mike Gonzalez received credit in the liner notes. Darkness Descends was Dark Angel's final album to feature original vocalist Don Doty. The album is the first to feature influential drummer Gene Hoglan ( @therealgenehoglan) About the Band: Dark Angel is an American thrash metal band from Downey, California, United States, that formed in 1981. Their over-the-top style (extremely fast, heavy and lengthy songs with many tempo changes, lyrics, and extended instrumental parts) earned them the nickname "the L.A. Caffeine Machine". Although Dark Angel had never achieved a mainstream breakthrough in their initial career, they are often credited as one of the leaders of the second wave of the 1980s thrash metal movement.
