I know I've talked about my personal timeline for Darksiders and its games, but I just realized I've never actually written it down before!
Darksiders Genesis - probably the first chronologically as it gives background into our lonely horsemen, and more then likely takes place hundreds of not thousands of years before the horsemen find themselves on earth.
Darksiders 3 - this is Fury's story and despite being labeled as 3, it's the first game that takes place on earth. During the first days, weeks, or possibly months after the initial start of Armageddon. She's busy securing humanity's safety alongside the makers. The earth is still green and there is still life to be found
Then we move on to Darksiders 2
Darksiders 2 - I believe this takes place maybe between 25 and 75 years after the events of Darksiders 3. We still see that the effects of the end war are fairly fresh. (And I believe Death would not have waited so long after hearing that War was in trouble and falsely imprisoned.) Life is struggling but there's still something there.
And finally
Darksiders - this is the final step in the journey for the horsemen. The world is already very established when you play the games in this order. Taking place 100 years after the beginning of the end war. The earth has begun to die and animals and living things are dying but adapting with each new generation. Life may be returning to the planet, but not as it once was.
I know there are books, but I've not actually read them yet. I'll add an addendum when I do!
