The ‘gem mutants’ are genuinely horrifying. I love it. Watching Garnet fall apart hurt my soul. I’m still not sure where to stand with Peridot, though - she seems like a giant goof, but a giant goof with very bad intentions.

I didn’t think it was a bad episode by any means, I just felt the trope was a little predictable. You’re right, though - they do make a good point to keep things clear, and I do appreciate that Jamie still didn’t get that chance in the end. Considering this is meant to be a children’s show, I can see it doing good things on that end.

Okay, so Gusite isn’t a gem. I’m surprised there’s so much fanart for him, though. 

But yeah, I knew I definitely recognized his voice, just couldn’t place him. Captain Gantu is who I’d know him best as. I need to rewatch Lilo & Stitch sometime soon. That movie is fan-flipping-tastic.

Yeah, from what I’ve been told about Uncle G, it sounds like they could do literally whatever they wanted, so a crossover into another universe isn’t out of the question. I’m usually not big on crossovers for that very reason, but this just worked!

I very much doubt it. I can see the appeal, but it just doesn’t appeal to me. Now, when I was younger, like around 10 or so? I might have enjoyed it. I figure that’s probably where their targeted audience lies.

It took me a minute, but Uncle G is a Rose Quartz with his gem on his nose. I can’t believe the evidence has been there all along.

Every time someone comes to this realization or has it told to them I find it so funny, because if I didn’t know Tenrag was Garnet backwards, I would assume it had something to do with like, 10 washcloths.

I very much like this idea, especially that Alone Together was the point where she felt she could “come out” to Steven since he’d now know what it’s like being a fusion. I mean, I can’t complain - I’m glad she withheld this information, if only so I could enjoy it later!

I am too! To be fair, though, someone did try to spoil me about Garnet being a fusion, but that was after I’d already put it all together myself, and even still I wasn’t 100% sure - more like 99%. Still, I didn’t know the reveal was coming in the finale, and I had no clue about Ruby and Sapphire, and I’m so glad I didn’t! It was such a nice surprise.

Oh no, I’m with you on this one. I’m totally on board the “Rose lies dormant within the rose quartz gem” train. After what she said to Steven in Lion 3, along with the events of Rose’s Room - even that little bit in Say Uncle that I really shouldn’t consider canon - I’m firmly planted in the idea that if/when Steven dies, or if his gem is somehow removed, Rose would be back. I definitely don’t want that to happen, and I don’t think I really want Rose back, but that’s how I figure it would go.

Ah true. I figured part of them poofing the corrupted gems is giving them some degree of peace, as I assume the corrupted state is torture. Either way, I wouldn’t mind seeing those two return.

I was curious about this, so I looked back to Steven’s Lion - watching this really shitty gif I made forever ago, even while embedded in the pillow, when it touches sand it starts rebuilding. Maybe it was used as a tool like Lapis, then, but was still corrupted somehow? Tell me what you think!

I do, and I am! And I think after episode 5/6 is when I’ve been told I should do them, so expect them soon!

I noticed that! The title card for this episode in particular was gorgeous. And I love that they take the time to work out a new title card (aside from slapping the episode title on, of course).

Oh that makes a lot of sense. This episode really did feel like a continuation of season one, although Jailbreak felt much more like a finale. I guess this felt sort of like a wrap-up? Anyway, it probably felt a little weird to watch The Return and Jailbreak and then have a good minute or so segment in Full Disclosure that was nothing but flashbacks. 

And I haven’t had the chance to check out your playlists yet, but they are definitely on my list of things to do!

Well, knowing Amethyst, she either started out as the crocodile but soon got bored of it, or whenever someone showed up, she was napping and let them stroll right in. Something along those lines, I’m sure. Through her a nice slab of meat or a good handful of garbage and she’d escort you through the front door.

I’ve been waiting on tonight all week, myself! This episode certainly lived up to the hype, and I’m sure the next one will as well. I went back to listen to this, and I have to agree - the music is excellent. That is one thing - among many others - that this show gets just right.

Absolutely. And like I mentioned in the last ask dump about Amethyst and Steven being good for each other, this is part of that equation - Amethyst won’t coddle him the way Pearl does (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing), and she doesn’t really put any expectations on him, either. I’m very invested in their relationship!
