The sequel to spore was basically a super edgy version of normal spore but it was made in that era of drm where everyone wss super obsessed with it so to play it you needed to connect to EA's website but once that shutdown the game became unplayable forever

Since it’s relevant, this vid by LGR, shows why a lot of people are afraid of Fallout 76′s “Always Online” requirement.
IE, what happens when the servers go off and the company stops supporting it? That’s gonna be a nightmare for game preservation to be sure, and honestly I think that any game company that lets a game die like this should have it forcibly put into the public domain as a punishment.
And, TBH, this is also why I’m kinda afraid of the idea of “streaming” games on the “cloud,” because it could be a similar situation on a much larger scale; on a much more insidious creep...
