If you had to take a guess, if Jason and Prime were to meet, how do you think that would go? What would their dynamic be?
This is EXTREMELY dependent on which versions are meeting. Cus teeeechnicallyyyy they’ve meet, and that ended in Jason (unintentionally) rage baiting Prime into destroying the whole planet.
(This is in Countdown #24, our actual Jason (and Donna and Kyle) visit a couple issues prior in #30(the issues countdown backwards so it ends one #1), Earth-15 a world in which a lot of the sidekicks have ‘graduated’ into their mentors’ mantles, hence Donna Wonder Woman and Jason Batman)
But talking mainline, pre-Nu52 versions of them meeting would not be a good time for anyone except maybe Jason, and only because Jason was real good at making everyone’s bad times amazing times for himself. Pre-nu52 Clark was just kinda miserable all the time, and still in his Villain Era, which isn’t the greatest headspace to be in when meeting the guy who’s whole schtick used to be targeted rage bait that hit too close to home and manipulating both heroes and villains into doing what he wanted. That said, they would get along. Clark was so incredibly lonely at this point in time and desperately craves connection. He also, at the time, would be exactly the type of person who’d kill someone if a close one asked (not for pleasure, he’s never liked killing, but the whole crisis (to put it suuuper simply) is over a girl he had a crush on when he was 15) and that’s exactly Jason’s type of catnip.
Modern/current day versions of them I can also see being friends. Clark is on the up and up, getting his life on track with a new optimistic outlook, and has already name dropped Jason. Considering that along with the fact we know he was upset enough about Jason’s death that his punch undid it, I think it’s pretty safe to say he’s a fan and would be happy meeting him.
As for Jason, we know he’s great with connecting with people who don’t quite fit in for whatever reason. Bizzaro, Sasha, Hannah(Sundowner), and a whole slew of super-powered kids (Gen-Outlaw). The more of an outcast, the more likely Jason is to get along with. The fact that Clark is so odd is actually a point towards them getting along. Obviously, this isn’t to say Jason is without his abrasions and edges, but I think their personalities are compatible and they actually have a good amount of commonality between them that it’d be pretty in character for them to get on pretty smoothly!
Also, something that I’ve seen a lot in fan works of them is Jason getting annoyed and angry with Clark, and there’s nothing bad with that! But I feel people are forgetting too quickly that while yes, Clark is annoying and A LOT, he’s also SO easily frustrated and rage baited. We’re talking about the guy who’d canonically attacked DC offices over the writing of his character like I’m sorry, but between the two of em, he’s the crash-out 😭😭
