“You’re a god damn mistake, that’s what you are.” with Arthur, uwu?
I assume that you mean for the angsty prompts? I reblogged those mostly for inspo ^^’ but hell, I’ll try and write something up :)
You and Arthur have not seen eye to eye lately. The fighting had gotten louder and louder, growing to such a size that the small camp and its residents could no longer shut the shouting, the stomping, and tossings of various objects out.
“You were supposed to look after it!” You shout, flailing your arms in the air to try and get the point to land, but Arthur stubbornly shakes his head and crosses his arms over his broad chest as if to protect himself from whatever accusations you might throw his way. “You said that you were going to be careful!”
“Well, maybe I ain’t the careful type!” he yells back. “Maybe you should have kept an eye on it if you’re so inclined to have someone watch it all the time!”
Frustration grows in you like fire, his words only fueling your anger. “Don’t start with me, Arthur Morgan. I’m not in the mood!”
“Not in the mood?” Arthur gasps incredulously, his arms falling from his chest to smack against his thighs. “Oh, you’re not in the mood? Nobody in this entire goddamned camp is in the mood to hear your screeching!”
“My screeching? What about yours?” You ask him.
In the corner of your eye, you can see John rolls his eyes, and Abigail promptly smacks him across the chest. It seems like most gang members have given up trying not to listen and watch the unfurling chaos. It’s embarrassing. While there’s an array of emotions to choose from, the most prominent are frustration and pity, and you cannot stand the pity in their eyes as they watch you and Arthur scream at one another.
Your hands tremble, and you struggle to keep your gaze on Arthur, that’s flustered with rage and breathes heavily from all the arguing. Clenching your hands into fists, you shake your head at him. “You are impossible!” You hiss at him. “You’re driving me mad! I should have stayed away from you when I had the chance!”
Hurt flashes in Arthur’s eyes. “Yes, because you love farm work,” he growls, stepping closer to you. “Maybe things would have been better if you would have just stayed put on that ranch, milking cows and shoveling shit like the rest of those people you had such a hard time leaving!”
“Damn you, Arthur!” You shout, stomping your foot in the ground. “You did this to me! You brought me along! You chose to bring me along!”
Something seems to snap in him. Your words seemingly cutting on a delicate nerve. He balls a hand up into a fist, flexing it so hard his knuckles turn white before he stabs an accusing finger in your direction. “You’re a damn mistake, that’s what you are,” he tells you. “I should have never asked you to come with me.”
A wave of hurt floods over you. Your body aches as if you’ve been kicked by a horse, and you can’t help but clutch a hand over your chest, trying to stifle a gasp.
There’s a gasp from Mary-Beth where she stands around the corner of Dutch’s tent, and Susan audibly protests. “Mr. Morgan!” She cries out, but Arthur has no attention to give her. His focus is entirely on you, and you can tell that he knows that his words were too much.
The tremble in your hands has spread to the entirety of your body, and it’s suddenly hard to breathe without it sounding like sobs.
Arthur seems to deflate, his shoulders sagging, and his face falling from an angry frown into a look of utter despair. “Darling, I-” he stops himself, not being able to neither defend himself or figure out what words to use to undo the ones he’d hurled at you. He takes another step towards you, and you find yourself taking a step back.
Tears well up in your eyes before you’re able to stop them and the tremble in your shoulders become more violent and more consistent as you begin to sob.“Darling-” Arthur looks as if he’s about ready to drop, the red flush on his cheeks slowly spreading to his eyes. “Darling, I don’t-”
Your feet move on their own, and in an instant, you’ve turned around and made off towards the woods. Abigail - followed closely by Susan - rushes after you to try and console you while Arthur remains standing as if he’s frozen on the spot.
It’s all you can do to hold your tears back until you’re out of his sight.
Oh no now I’m super sad T_T But it was so much fun to write!Maybe I’ll keep taking or open up some kind of request thing since I usually don’t write on Tumblr...
Thank you though! This was great! (And a little bit of a punch in the feels...)
