I am new to the fandom and I was wondering why is everyone hating Moffat so much? :P Also I am really pissed with 10! I thought he was so in love with rose. Even when she wasn't in the series he was mentioning her and remember her in every episode, but in 3x09 he offered to Joan to start over with her because "John" was still in him and he felt things for her. I was like wtf doctor? Was rose nothing for him? Just a companion to not feel lonely? :/ What do you think?

First of all, Hi Nonny! Thanks for the message! This is really long, sorry.

I can’t speak for everyone’s Moffat hate, but there are a couple common reasons for it. Right now, everyone (including me) is really upset about the 50th Anniversary episode trailer debacle. He played it at Comic Con in San Diego, then threatened everyone in the panel that if they posted the trailer (or the trailer for an Adventure in Space and Time) online, he would never release anything at Comic Con again. (At least, this is what I have heard, anyone feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.) Afterwards, official Doctor Who twitter tweeted that the trailer would be released officially online within two hours. Then people began reporting that the trailer wasn’t actually going to be released. We now have word from Moffat that the actual trailer is not fully edited and the unedited version was an exclusive for Comic Con guests only.

I, along with other people, are really irritated about this because we have every right to see the trailer as the people at Comic Con, even if it is unedited. We don’t care, we just want to see it. And we shouldn’t be punished just because we couldn’t get a ticket or couldn’t afford to go to Comic Con. Comic Con is not for exclusives, it’s for the experience. (At least, that’s what I think and why I am mad.)

As for the rest of the Moffat hate… there are a lot of reasons as to why people don’t like him. There are many who don’t like what he did to Doctor Who after he took over from Russell T. Davies. There are a lot of people who don’t like his characters, for a multitude of reasons. I personally don’t like his misogynistic attitude. He gives many interviews where he says really insulting and hurtful things. He sometimes treats the female characters of the show horribly, and he isn’t very grateful for the fanbase, and can treat them rather horribly, too. So there are a lot of reasons. I personally don’t like him for his attitude towards the fans, his misogynistic attitude (especially his portrayal of female characters) and his frankly self-indulgent, arrogant attitude. (my opinion of him.) That’s Moffat though, not Doctor Who, and I generally like his writing.

And about the whole 10/Rose thing… I sort of got irritated at that too. I don’t really have a good canon answer for it. Ten offering to take Joan with him was, I think, out of guilty conscience. I think he felt bad for how things went with her, and so he offered to take her with him, as his sort of way of apologizing and trying to give her a piece of the man she fell in love with. (We all know how the Doctor reacts to things (; )

And Rose… I tend to try and focus on circumstance. He didn’t even think of warning Martha about him falling in love. It’s my own personal headcanon that he didn’t think he could fall in love as a human because as a Time Lord, he was so in love with/consumed by Rose that he couldn’t even fathom loving anyone else. That being said, when he became a human, he lost all of his Time Lordiness. He didn’t know Rose. He didn’t know the real Martha. He didn’t even know himself. And if you lost all of your memories like that, you might fall in love with someone else, too. It wasn’t negating the Doctor and Rose’s relationship, because he didn’t even really know who Rose Tyler was. He didn’t know who the Doctor was, either. To that version of him, Rose Tyler was a hazy face that popped up in his dreams and the Doctor was the alternate personality he wished he was. And he was very, very clear to separate dreams and reality. When he was dreaming, he might have loved Rose, because he remembered Rose. He might have been haunted by her face or her name. But he always tried to consciously write it off, because he thought it wasn’t real. So no, I don’t think Rose was nothing to him. I think Rose was everything to him. :)
