I’ve been taking a break but I’m popping back in to say: I’ll be seeing The Wolf Man (2025) this weekend and I sincerely hope they don’t do The Obvious Thing™ and kill the dad. Especially not by the mom’s hand. That’s what I sincerely hope.

I mean I get that Larry Talbot got killed by his own father, but like. That was a different premise. And a different main theme. So was Gwen shooting Lawrence in the 2009 remake. So we don’t have to continue the trope of loved-one-mercy-kills-the-wolf-man. We don’t have to. We shouldn’t.

If the theme turns out to be “yeah Dad was good at protecting Daughter, but Mom wasn’t and she needed to learn how to be,” fine, but, “so we had her shoot her sick husband when he became too dangerous” is a really weird way to teach that lesson. Unless they do it very carefully. And even then, what a downer.
