Had some thoughts after remembering that the new Avatar movie is coming out soon. So take my atla au for dndads.
I'm telling y'all that Darryl is the peak of earth benders. And yes I mean that in build, but also in personality with him being head strong and what not. If he's getting put on team avatar, man is going to be found living as a humble business owner in an earth kingdom capital with his family and using his bending to help out his neighbors. The thing that gets him on the team? Him deciding to help out with a mission because the outcome affects people he cares about.
Glenn's from the northern water tribe. The whole vibe of the water tribe is to create and go with the flow. As a water bender he's laid back and not very interested in improving his skills, if they increase in quality, cool, if not, oh well. Getting recruited comes from the rest of the group choosing his older brother for their adventure, and him just being like "woah, if he gets to leave, so do I."
Yeah Jodie's here, of course! Unlike Glenn, he takes great pride in perfecting his bending. Water bending master over here. He is the self appointed leader of the group (to some people's *cough* Glenn and Henry *cough* dismay). He gets added to the team because he goes out of his way to help the rest of the group while they are visiting.
Okay, do I hear non bender Ron of the fire nation? The boy who could never live up to expectations and who left home to get away from his abusive father. Maybe not the most outwardly helpful member of the group to start off, but I think it would be fun if he had a great connection to the spirit realm for whatever reason.
Am I making Henry the avatar? Yes. Of all the dads he just made the most sense to me. I did originally think him to be an earth bender (druid, duh) but the more connected sense to nature actually screams air nomad. Also, translating his memory loss from canon into a trauma response to running away from his home before it was invaded, just because his mentor (Barry) was borderline abusive, makes for a compelling storyline.
And let's be real, it was either him or Ron who was going to take the title of avatar.
Anyways, uh yeah! I don't know where I was going with this, I was bored. But new au for y'all!
