A Yautja on Darwin IV
A young Yautja with little sense, much courage and a rather flexible interpretation of 'honorable' hops off his ship to personally take down an Eosapien, because he REALLY wants that giant skull.
The Eosapien meanwhile just wants to crush this guy like a bug for interrupting his OWN hunt.
Meanwhile, his gramps, the clan elder, is probably kind of confused and/or horrified that his grandson might have learned the WRONG things about the Yautja way of the hunt.
For me, before Pandora, there was Darwin IV
Expedition really made me fall in love with worlds beyond ours and made me long for knowledge of the unknown and far away. It has a special place in my heart.
thing i made on blender, kinda inspired by half life 1 but mostly Expedition by wayne barlowe
I would KILL for a video game set on Darwin IV from Wayne Barlowe's Expedition. Like are you seeing this shit???
Emperor Sea Strider
I love Wayne Barlow's Expedition, the creatures he created for Darwin IV are so unique. The Emperor Sea Strider towers as the most memorable entity for me though.
Deeply personal iconic conflation of imagery and music circa 1990—Emperor Sea Strider skull from Barlowe's EXPEDITION + Andy LaRocque's "Insanity" instrumental from King Diamond's The Eye.
Your mileage may vary, but mine never will.
