I have a theory about how Kaisei's gonna play his God of Death
So. In chapter 192, Rokuro tells Akane of the time he saw Kaisei's God of Death, and we get our first glimpse at Kaisei's art before Issho's betrayal
Shiguma and Akane play the soon-to-be-dead man in a frenzied panic, but Kaisei's completely calm
Then in chapter 194, we see an audience's reaction to Kaisei's current God of Death. We've heard his art changed after being betrayed by Issho, and it's possible he's altered parts of his God of Death as well
For Shiguma and Akane, we see the audiences cheer their art, even when both works end with the performer playing out their death. But for Kaisei, there's nothing. The whole audience's stunned into silence
And like I said, Shiguma and Akane both play out their deaths, a very shocking scene, and still get standing ovations, and we gotta assume Kaisei's no less talented than Akane, he was good enough to be promoted to Shin'uchi before Issho sabotaged him. So why the difference?
I think Kaisei does something really shocking in his God of Death. Something really nasty
I think Kaisei puts a lot of emphasis in the tragedy of the man wanting to kill himself because of debts before meeting the God of Death, and that he follows it up by making the man cheat the god of Death, not out of greed, but of need. Because he's made a lot of money, but not enough to cover his debts
But the God of Death doesn't care. He still pulls the man into the cave. But the man is sure of himself. He did what he needed to in order to survive and, seeing a chance to keep living, he takes it without a doubt, which is what Rokuro saw
I imagine, in Kaisei's original rendition, the man fails and dies. That's how the story goes, after all
And I imagine that, in his new rendition, the man instead successfully transfers the flame into the new candle
And then the God of Death blows it out
For the crime of cheating him. For daring to think he could mess with life, a realm only accessible to a God of Death, and how dare a mere mortal put himself in the same level as a God of Death
I think Kaisei's channeling Issho into the God of Death, which raised the man out of poverty and snuffed him out just the same, just because he felt like it, no matter how unfair it is
I think that would be enough to stun an audience into silence
