Dragon Ball Z Narrator, Voice Actor Jouji Yanami Passes Away

Yanami voiced King Kai, Dr. Briefs, Babidi, Narrator in Dragon Ball franchise

Within the Time Bokan franchise, Jōji Yanami is best known for voicing the various “smart henchmen” in the evil trios: Grocky (Time Bokan), Boyacky (Yatterman), Tobacke (Zenderman), Sekovitchi (Otasukeman), Julie Kokematsu (Yattodetaman), Kosuinen (Ippatsuman), Dasainen (Itadakiman), Hieru (Kiramekiman).  He would return to reprise the character/s in any appearance they would make prior to his retirement from voicework in 2015. 

Famously, him saying “pochittona” (ポチッとな) as a button was being pressed was an ab-lib line, and since has gone on to be the onomatopoeia to describe the sound of a button being pushed in Japan.

I should probably mention I have better quality Itadakiman footage now.

Considering the merchandise driven nature of the Time Bokan series, I’m surprised that a commercial for some of the toys just recently surfaced, let alone for Itadakiman.

This ad features Dasainen running away from the toy versions of the Itadaki-Mechas Kabutozemi, Wangaroo, and Peliguin. An unremarkable commercial honestly, but the stop-motion effects are nice,

Poor Dirt Cheap Trio of Itadakiman! You guys have no luck at all.  Your show didn't even last a full proper season of 26 episodes before getting pulled due to low ratings!  And one of your episodes never aired at the time because of a baseball game!

Poor, poor Yan-Yan (in purple), Dasainen(in green), and Tonmentan(in brown).  Of course, they made light of this by eliminating you utterly in the first moments of the OVA's race... no luck.
