A few small goals for this run that I've tried to keep up with in the middle of this mid-summer heat wave. I headed out when the dewpoint is around the lowest of the day. I can usually handle the higher temperatures just by adjusting my effort, but certainly FEELS a heck of a lot easier when the dewpoint is lower and not as much moisture in the air. I've also made sure to run easier the day after faster workouts, and I pushed it pretty good yesterday. Finally, I'm becoming more and more a convert to running by power as my primary effort measure. Heart rate is really not very reliable in the summer….or in the morning after a few cups of coffee, or if your sick or if you're stressed, or if you haven't slept well..and on and on and on. Pace is often less reliable and really not that important anyway on an easy run. Sure, Id love to just go by my own internal feel for perceived effort, but I love my watch and datapoints and charts and spreadsheets 🙂 #datadork
