Just some interesting voter stats on my mid-size Florida county, taken from the census data and election websites:
There are 60k adults who are not registered voters.
Out of about 400k total voters, the age group 66 & up make up 120,000! That absolutely dwarfs every other age group - it equals the next 3 closest categories (61-65, 56-60, and 18-25!) combined.
When expanding to 55 and up, the number of registered voters is literally half of the total. We an old county, y’all. Lotta beaches though.
Glad to see the highest non-senior total is the 18-25 group. Keep it up!
We’re also a VERY white county - 84% (15% of those are also Hispanic).
Despite all that, the make up of the political parties is pretty even: 131k Dems, 149k GOP, and non-partisan/other 116k.
26 of Florida’s 67 counties have populations under 50,000 people.
7 counties have at least a million: Duval (Jacksonville), Miami, Palm Beach, Orange (Disney!), Hillsborough (Tampa), Pinellas (Clearwater), Broward (Ft. Lauderdale).
