Walk With Me To The End Snippet
For folks wondering about the next update to ‘Walk With Me To The End’, its still being plucked at.
Here is a piece of a future chapter.
---
The plane tickets sit like a looming specter on her desk. A reminder of her time to leave is quickly approaching. She occasionally runs her fingers along the printed tickets, staring at the times and dates and times listed on the paper. She always tucks them back in place, plainly in view so she doesn’t forget what she’s doing. She needs all the motivation she can get at this point.
Adrian will go on a trip to deal with an family emergency, Cybersix will disappear from the night in Meridiana. The thought of leaving the city undefended leaves the cyber anxious in a way she isn’t fond of. She doesn’t want to leave a place like this, a place she can finally call her own.
This is her city, her home, but she needs to do what’s right. She can’t leave another Cyber to suffer. She can’t let more pain continue. The cycle of suffering needs to be cut off at the knees before Von Reichter hurts anyone else. He’s already caused enough damage. He’s already hurt enough people, much less his own creations.
Data Seven gives a lazy grunt, head butting the back of her legs once he catches her staring at the tickets again. The gesture earns a low laugh from the dark haired woman. She turns to look down at the panther.
“I’m allowed to be anxious about this you know.”
The panther chuffs back, and paws at her. Cybersix simply rolls her eyes, “I know, I know, don’t obsess.” She paws at him back for emphasis before drifting away from her desk to change. “I’ll try not to.”
The tickets still catch her eye, but she has loose ends to tie up before she leaves. Further Sustenance to gather, finishing the lesson plan for her class whilst she’s gone and any other little plans José might have in the works. If she can disrupt his attempts at criminal industry, she can at least give herself a stopgap between her departure and her hopeful return.
