Sanitation and the Mayor’s Inaugural Civic Innovation Award

Earlier this month, Mayor Eric Garcetti announced the winner of LA’s first Civic Innovation Award: Sanitation’s Special Collections Team.

Led by Sal Aguilar, head of the GIS team, Bureau of Sanitation partnered with ESRI to launch a pilot program for an automated field-data collections app. After two successful months in the South LA district, the bureau confirmed that it be a viable solution to the drivers’ request for a better data collection method and for optimizing routes.
