three | drive-in cinema date
It was meant to be a casual hook up, a quick date that Outsider had already decided would end in a one night stand when he pulled up to the old drive-in cinema with his cute passenger jittery from nerves. Outsider buys their tickets, parks his car in the spot indicated on the thin slips of paper and turns the key in the ignition.
They sit in the silence that follows for a moment before Outsider suggests snacks and Fillan pulls candy out from his many pockets, winks at Outsider in a manner that is endearing for how clumsily the gesture is made. Outsider still gets drinks for the two of them, complaining about the high prices for a simple soft drink when he opens the car door and slides back into the driver’s seat to hand Fillan one plastic cup. Despite acting no differently, FIllan continues to try and hold Outsider’s hand even before the sun has set and the movie flickers to life on the projector.
He slides his hand out of reach and eats a bar of chocolate while an old time science fiction plays, the dashing protagonist on a quest to save the red haired vixen in distress. It is a bland film that Outsider would have only watched as a joke yet Fillan seems to be mildly interested in the plot or perhaps he just likes the obviously rubber monster suits and props.
Outsider likes those too. He cracks a smile and exchanges a stilted laughter over the poor laser gun effects Filan eagerly points at. Their lips meet at one point, quick and brief, and Outsider thinks perhaps he won’t delete Fillan’s number from his phone when he gets home.
