December 14, 1999

Hush aired for BTVS season 4, episode 10. This was the first appearance of Tara Maclay, a classmate of Willow's at UC Sunnydale. Tara is played by Amber Benson and is a major character for the rest of this season and several more.

For the first time, Buffy and Riley kiss.

Olivia, a friend of Giles', has the last spoken words of the episode before the silence begins.

This episode was nominated for two Emmy Awards: Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Cinematography for a Single Camera Series. The episode did not win in either nominated category.

The villains, a group of silent men called The Gentlemen, are especially frightening. Camden Toy played one of the Gentlemen, he is shown in the photo above. He returned to the Buffyverse playing other characters in 5 episodes of BTVS season 7 and 1 episode of ATS season 5. Sadly he passed away in early December 2023 from pancreatic cancer.

Parting Gifts aired for ATS season 1, episode 10. This was the first appearance of Wesley on ATS. Cordelia also receives her first vision. In an attempt to not receive visions, Cordelia kisses multiple characters, including Angel and Wesley.

January 14, 2002

Birthday aired for ATS season 3, episode 11. An alternate universe - the Cordy!verse - is explored. In the Cordy!verse Cordelia is a rich and famous actress.

Harm's Way aired for ATS season 5, episode 9. This is a Harmony centered episode. In it Harmony brushes her teeth, and puts on her vamp face so she can brush her fangs.

Fool for Love aired for BTVS season 5, episode 7. This was the last BTVS appearance of Darla, who would continue to appear in multiple episodes of ATS. Darla is an independently wealthy woman (extremely wealthy) and is played by Julie Benz. She appears in five BTVS episodes, in S1, S2, and this episode in S5.

This was also the first appearance of Cecily Addams - shown in Victorian England - played by Kali Rocha. (Previous post on her last appearance.)

And last but not least, this was the first appearance of Nikki Wood. She is a slayer that Spike fights in the NYC subway. This is the only appearance of Nikki played by April Weeden, Nikki was later recast.

Darla aired for ATS season 2, episode 7. This aired directly after the BTVS episode "Fool for Love." Like "Fool for Love" it included several flashback scenes, including another view of the Boxer Rebellion scene. The Fanged Four chosen family are shown above: Angelus, Darla, Drusilla, and Spike.
