“Clementine.” Fabian followed the mockingly cordial greeting with a teasing grin as he dropped an arm across Clem’s shoulders. It only took a moment for his expression to change, to mold itself into its default portrayal of concern. “How’s your head?”

Exhausted both mentally and physically from a long day of work and play, the only thought Marlene could manage when she stumbled upon Sturgis Podmore in the Hufflepuff common room was this:

"Oi, whoa, slow down there Hopkirk.” Fabian smiled kindly as he approached the blonde, pointing to her occupied hand. “That scone’s not for me, is it? ‘Cause, really, you shouldn’t have.”

when: Monday, 27 January, 1979, past midnight where: DADA Corridor who: Fabian & Gideon Prewett

It was the first time Fabian could remember using his status as Head Boy to get onto grounds past curfew. It was the first time Fabian could remember using his status as Head Boy to do anything unsavory, actually. But he couldn’t ignore the missing key that normally hung off the side of his desk, especially not when his brother, too, was missing. Though it was well after midnight, and Fabian’s shoes were still sticky with spilled beer, he crept quietly through the castle until he reached the Defensive Magic Corridor. Just as he suspected, the classroom reserved for Dueling Club storage was unlocked---nor was it empty.

Fabian didn’t interrupt. Instead, he hopped up on one of the desks shoved up against the wall and watched; waited.

“Got you a drink. Extra gin, less tonic.”

“Oh, how the tables have turned!” Marlene proudly shoved a drink into Edgar’s hand. “It’s strong, I think, but if you add more lemonade, I won’t tell.”

“Oi, knob.” Fabian's breath came warm and fast as he made for Gideon’s room. His conversation with the spunky as ever Hattie had left him both perplexed and anxious---two things he didn’t have room for this early in his return from the holiday. But as he rounded the corner into his brother’s bedroom, an energy foreign to Gideon permeated the air, trumping any feeling Fabian had intended to detonate when he’d walked inside.
