I feel like I get too annoyed every time I see someone somewhere says people who complain about whitewashing and privilege are butthurt. I mean I instantly unfollow them after following them for a long while and while liking everything else they post a lot. Is it bad to be so mad or am I really "butthurt" for instantly unfollowing them? And do you have any links to arguments against people who think that I'm "butthurt"?
Hahaha, hi!
If you wanted someone to tell you that "yes, you are way too butthurt call the waaaahmbulance" then you totes came to the wrong place.
(Though personally, I usually don't unfollow instantly, if I've got the spoons to explain just why what they're doing is sucky, trivializing, dismissive, erasing, etc. Most days I have the patience/willpower to be an explainer. But some days I'm not, and it's nope!unfollow city. YMMV. If unfollowing them keeps your blood pressure from spiking, go for it, imo~)
As forrr links:My favorite is Moff's law. It's actually linked on my blog already.
Moff's Law
The entirety of Racebending.com is a pretty good resource too. (Both the tumblr account and the official website.)
Cracked.com is getting better at this, too.
STFUConfederates made a good post.
I just like this one.
NEGL, when I'm *totally fucking over you* I rely on the Glossario. "The Oversensitive" sounds like what you need.
Derailing for Dummies is always fun.
I've also got the tags: #whitewashing, #daterasure, #datmarginalizing, and #this is why my media company needs to exist that might help! That last one is mostly a tag meant for my own archival & inspiration purposes, so if you're going to go tag diving, try out the other ones first, lol.
Me, I like to custom tailor my resources sometimes. Some people will react better to seeing Ebert tweet about Moff's Law than going to a "biased" source like Racebending. Some feel a bunch of Whitebros on Cracked.com publishing it makes things more valid. If it's a Disney!conversation, I never hesitate to smack someone with this quote. And some...some I just link to Derailing for Dummies and send them on their way.
