The World of Bees, Fluffy White Boxes w/ Smiling Faces, Flames, and Fish
Weird title, but follow me here!
Its 2021 and I decided to finally give dating apps a shot. Welcome to the world of Bumble, Hinge, Tinder, POF, etc. As I’m sure we all know by now, dating apps can be a bizarre place all on their own. It can feel like flipping through a catalog of applicants searching for their various definitions of companionship. From the pool of applicants, there are a few possible outcomes:***
1. No match.
2. Match, but they end up ghosting you in the first few messages exchanged.
3. Match, you have great conversation, exchange numbers, date, relationship, then comes your mutually agreed upon version of love, marriage, and the baby carriage! Winner, winner, chicken dinner -- we’re all happy for you, but secretly hate you too!
4. Match, great conversation, exchange numbers, 3 weird in person dating exchanges, sprinkle in a few lies, which eventually turns into a ghost situation (Makes possible outcome #2 look like a steak dinner, huh?!).
5. Match, then a realization that you’re both looking for something completely different. (FYI, not everyone is looking for a hookup on these apps, but - to the disappointment of those looking for something serious - it can feel like that at times!)
6. Match, great conversation, they turn out to have 5 children they failed to mention, and they are still married! (PSA: Separated and divorced are two different things! The intention to file divorce papers, does not a divorce make!)
*** This list is not exhaustive! Feel free to comment your outcomes I may have missed!
I’ve experienced all of these outcomes! Except #3 of course, if that were the case, you and I wouldn’t be here now would we?! Many of the experiences documented here will be from the world of dating apps, so I figured an overview of that world was in order. You’re welcome!
Until next time lovers,
- SHE
