Whose Connie
She is the live-in nanny we hired to help with Watson. John wanted to be free to assist me with cases again, but that often has us dashing out all times of the day and night, so we decided to have someone move into the downstairs flat.
My brother has access to a great many resources due to his work, so he screened several people and provided me with a narrowed down list, which I passed on to John. We wanted to be sure that we not only had someone whose background checked out, but who would be able to protect Watson if anything were to happen.
Due to the nature of my work, and things in John’s past, there is always a risk that people might want to hurt those close to us, and we wanted to make sure that whoever we hired to care for Watson would be capable of keeping their head in the face of risk or threat. It was no small feat finding someone with such a skill set, and who was looking for a job in childcare.
We are very fortunate in Connie. Like John she is former RAMC. She is very capable. She wanted a change when she got home from deployment. There were incidents when she was serving, which I won’t go into here, as they are personal, which partially informed this choice, I believe. But, we are grateful to have her.
I’m not sure what we would have done if she wasn’t here. I certainly couldn’t have expected Mrs. Hudson to care for Watson all this time, on her own. She has her own life, and her own things to do.
