recycledstars replied to your post “What got you into 90s Sci-Fi shows?”
THAT'S WHY I GOT INTO THE X-FILES TOO! Except I was freaking out about 2nd year uni and human metabolic biochemistry. (scully's questionable tv science taught me so much that semester.) So if you're ancient what does that make me??
I don't believe we're that far apart in age? I don't know. I remember thinking you were around 6 years older than me? But I think we're closer than that. So maybe we're old ladies together. :P
I remember when I was writing Grey's fic I was reading all of these medical journals so that I could make the surgeries sound legit. I learned a bit from that show--I was able to diagnose myself with appendicitis which basically saved my life when I was 18 lol.
But like, I think we both got into online life before social media was even a thing? It's so different! Kind of like the gap between VHS and DVD. Like not huge time wise, but a super different way of life!

OH THANK YOU SO MUCH. It was the most amazing night! I had like nothing to wear because I didn't do laundry before I left, so I was wearing this like, Hello Kitty Iron Man sparkle...thing. And sneakers and socks and tights, and like, I figured it didn't matter because I was going to the gay bars.
Buttt there was an Argentinian lady there with her straight guy friends, and she came up to me and said he wanted to dance, but I was like I think I'd rather dance with you? And then we danced for like an hour! And she said something in Spanish, and I answered her in Spanish, and then we were talking to each other in Spanish? And then when this guy (inevitably) was like OH TWO GIRLS DANCING OBVIOUSLY THEY NEED A GUY IN THERE, she like, almost fought him? And I'm normally opposed to I WILL FIGHT THIS MAN NOW TO DEFEND YOUR HONOR but idk, she was really nice! And I was holding this conversation in Spanish, which like, I didn't know I could do. ^^ All in this shiny pink Iron Man half-costume.

Everyday life in Japan, baby. :-)
This is the big anime/electronic district in Tokyo, and apparently it's the only place it's a big thing anymore? My friends were telling me that it's not as big of a thing anymore, and it's not cool like it is in the States?
Also, there was kind of this weird atmosphere while I was there. Like, these girls were all dressed up as comic book characters, and you got the sense that everyone was just there being really pervy. I basically walked around the station and got back on the train. XD

The dude beside you kinda looks like Michael Cera? Lol I thought it was him at first glance.
My friend from college? I told him this, and he giggled. :P

OMG, have fun, you! Stay safe and eat lots of good food. Hugs to Bethany when you see her!
I hugged her for you! And the food was awesome.

Ooooh, it looks like an awesome place!
IT REALLY WAS. Very romantic. There were lots of lights and lots of couples! :)

That is hilarious because Japan is far safer than anywhere I've lived in the States.
You know, I was talking to my college friends in Japan about this, because we all lived in New Orleans, and we're all just so thankful that when we hear loud noises, you don't have that second where you're trying to figure out if it's a gunshot or a firework. You know it's fine. I went out for girls night with one of my college friends and her work friends, and they were laughing because I didn't take my purse off while we were sitting, but my friend Sara was like, "No, like you can't put your stuff down in New Orleans ever. Someone will take everything." When I was in Rome, people would cut your bag.
I mean, it's funny because I've traveled alone a lot, and I know that the best way to get people to leave you alone is just to walk around and look really pissed off all the time? I never approach people unless they approach me, and when we hang out, almost all of the information I feed them is false. XD My mom's always telling me to be more friendly when we're traveling, and I'm just like but this person is trying to hustle us? I know this because you taught me how to do this? XD
But that day I was with you was very relaxing because I got a few hours off from being super craycray hyper vigilant.

My mom expressed similar concerns for you. Be careful my love!
Tell her thank you for her concern. It was an amazing trip and basically went off without a hitch! I still can't believe it was real. Or that I planned it. Or that I paid for it. Or that any of it worked. Have fun in Disney!
