How did your rook deal with the inner demons quest with going into lucanis head?

Like where they fascinated? Terrified of touching something and lucanis having a break down? Was it another Tuesday? Idk I had to ask

lol thanks for asking! I think externally Rook was trying to focus on helping Lucanis, but internally they were freaking out on multiple levels.

Their thoughts probably sound like one long run-on sentence: "How does Spite even manage to DO this? How frequently is Lucanis shutting down emotionally like this? What am I about to see in this man's mind? What does Spite think I can DO exactly?"

Ultimately they end up ignoring their thoughts and treat his mind like they treat nerves medically. Following what's 'loudest' to the source of the pain.

I think my Rook probably had a harder time with Lucanis' conjuring of Illario than in game since Rook didn't want Lucanis to dismiss his cousin entirely since the two of them were so close. Definitely less, "You don't owe Illario a second thought..." and more "You've barely spoken to him and it's been over a year. We need to have a chat with the real Illario. We'll figure this out."

Post quest, Rook definitely wanted to ask Spite about it more, but also knew Lucanis didn't like being thought of as an experiment. So they dropped it. (They were absolutely yapping to Emmrich about it though.)

"Rook? Rook, this isn't funny. Stop... please...” Neve pleaded, her gloves sticky with blood as she pressed her hands into the rogue’s side to stop the bleeding.

Despite the deep gash in their side, Rook managed a weak smirk, looking up at Neve with almost enough adoration and reassurance to mask the fear. “I thought you liked my jokes.”

Neve just choked out a sob, holding Rook tighter. Damn Rook for constantly wanting to be the hero. Damn them for not listening when she told them to keep Aelia’s eyes on her. She should’ve known Aelia would twist the knife again. She should’ve known she’d try to take her Trouble away from her too. “Just stay here, Trouble. Stay with me. Please.”

With as much effort as they could expend, Rook reached up to cup Neve’s cheek. “I’m not going anywhere. You’re stuck with me, Neve Gallus.”

Whatever Neve said in response was muffled by a ringing in their ears as their vision faded to black.

Rook woke up several hours later staring at the ceiling of the Lighthouse’s infirmary. The throbbing migraine was new. So was the bandage wrapped around their torso, covering what they assumed to be stitches, courtesy of Harding. They glanced over to their left, expecting to see Varric either ready to berate them for getting injured again or snoring softly in his bed. Instead, their eyes settled on the warm weight of Neve slumped over in the chair next to them, her head resting against their arm as she slept. Rook reached for her hand and squeezed, smiling softly as they closed their eyes. Maybe nearly dying wasn’t the best way to do it, but it was certainly one way of letting them catch up on some much needed rest.

I am going to have to be a basic ass bitch and say Lucanis and his coffee obsession lol. I'm a bit of a coffee drinker myself and I very much enjoy his whole deal. I didn't expect to like Lucanis as much as I did, with the way a lot of fan hype and pre-release material seemed to be setting him up as your stereotypical edgy/sexy/broody rogue type. But goddamn if his weird gremlin energy and coffee obsession didn't win me over.

As a bonus, one detail I love is that when you have to choose how to handle the mayor of D'Meta's Crossing, both Neve and Bellara go against what you'd expect them to want based on their established archetypes. Neve the hardened cynic wants you to give him a second chance and Bellara the sunshine magical girl wants you to leave him for dead. These are both obviously in line with what we learn about the characters later on, but I love how this early in the game it's already challenging your assumptions about these people.

4 - a story idea you haven’t written yet

Ngl most of them are smut-related. I won’t say much, but I will say that Rook deserves some consequences for their actions (they bratted too close to the sun)

9 - start to finish, how long did it take you to write the last fic you posted?

Only 6 months, which is a lot shorter than I expected. Shoutout to my oneshots being more than half the length of that fic now 🙃

🌸 Does your Rook have any siblings or close friends they see as such? Where are they during the events of Veilguard?

Rook was an only child to a single mother before she was killed. Once they joined the Lords, they latched onto them like family. Isabela’s by no means maternal, but Rook sees her as like a fun aunt. Isabela watched this scrappy, skinny, scared kid try so hard to prove that they belonged in the Lords and took pity on them (she definitely doesn’t have a soft spot for the kid, shut up Hawke). After watching them get their ass handed to them in the hall of valor too many times, she taught them how to fight. She’s proud of them and how far they’ve come, but she’s never saying that out loud.

6. Is Rook attracted to anyone (specific person or just negative qualities) they shouldn’t be and why? (bonus points if it's not their love interest)

They’re pretty much exclusively attracted to the emotionally unavailable. In that regard, Neve is exactly their type. They also took one look at Hezzenkoss and her cartoonish supervillain vibe and immediately thought “smash.”

7. Does Rook have any kinks? Do they act on it or just think about it?

Nothing too crazy for Rook, but they do like the idea of being tied up. Maybe with ropes that match a certain detective’s favorite color. With a matching collar. They told Neve when they were drunk at The Hilt and Neve just smirked and said she already knew. She hasn’t done anything with the information, though. Not yet, at least.

2. What is their grooming routine?

Rook didn’t get to have one when they were enslaved, so they take full advantage of the luxuries of the Lighthouse. The second they found a room full of hot springs, they stripped down and took the longest bath they’ve ever had. They might’ve even fallen asleep in there. Their hair is hard to manage when it’s tangled and dirty, so they try to put it in a braid before bed. Sometimes they’re too exhausted to remember and they spend a good chunk of the morning cursing in various languages as they try to detangle it. Their makeup routine begins and ends with a simple philosophy: “Yesterday’s eyeliner is today’s smoky eye.”

10. What objects do they always carry around with them?

If they’re leaving the Lighthouse for whatever reason, they aren’t going anywhere without their bow and their swords. Plus their lightning flasks. And some healing potions. And a few poisons just in case. As for the rest of their stuff, they keep some snacks in their bag in case the trip ends up being longer than anticipated, some extra gold in case they need to bribe their way out of something (or if they see something shiny in the market), and some of Assan’s treats. He’s a good boy, he deserves them.
